The LIVING GOD #CHASTENS

How does God’s #LOVE correspond to His CHASTENING?    Chasten is defined by Webster as correcting by punishment; discipline – to purify or refine by freeing from faults.  Psalm 94:12 “Blessed is the man whom Thou dost CHASTEN, O LORD, and teaches him out of Thy law”  I think Hebrews 12 gives us additional understanding on perfect love.  “do not regard lightly the discipline of the LORD nor faint when you are reproved by Him; for THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE CHASTENS, AND SCOURGES  EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.  We had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?  For they chasten us for a short as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good that we may share His holiness.  Now no CHASTENING for the present seems to be joyous, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, will it yield the peaceful fruit of righteousness.” Isaiah 53 tells us of the Father’s chastisement of our sins covered by His son, Jesus’s perfect love.  “He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we ourselves esteem him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted,  He was pierced through for our transgressions,  He was bruised for our iniquities; the CHASTISEMENT for our well being fell upon Him and by His scourging we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”   What does Revelation 3 say to us?  “As many as I LOVE, I REBUKE AND CHASTEN;  be zealous therefore, and repent.  Behold, I stand at the door and knock;  if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me.  To him that overcomes will I grant to him to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne.”

Kiss Of Death

What’s in a name?  How many people or places do you know named after #Judas?  That name has become synonymous with #betrayal and #hypocrisy.  What kind of person does what he did?  How was he perceived?  Who did he hang out with?  Why was everyone so surprised at his actions?  Was Jesus tricked?  What lessons can we learn form a deceiver in the midst of the disciples?  What is the warning for ‘religious’ people?  Did Judas have salvation and then lose it?  How can you be sure that you don’t get marked with the kiss of death?

The LIVING GOD #HOUSE

House of #Horrors seems to be the thrill for the young and old this October.  What do you experience within it’s walls? – #Fright -#Fear -#Death -#Mutilation -#Screams!  You pay money for that?  What a contrast between the house of horrors and the HOUSE OF GOD…. -Peace -Joy -Life -Love -Singing –  Any place where GOD manifests His presence is the HOUSE OF  GOD . Gen.28:16,17  From a lonely dark night with a stone for a pillow, “Jacob said, surely the Lord is in this place and I knew it not… How awesome, this is none other but the HOUSE OF GOD, and the gate of heaven.”  Where are you today?  Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.  IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE are many dwelling places: if it were not so, I would have told you: for I go to prepare a place for YOU. . .I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am there you may be also…..I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” John 14:1-6  Are you living in a house of horrors?  Turn away and choose the House of God.  “”For the time is come that judgment must begin at the HOUSE OF GOD:  and if it first begin at us what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of GOD?”” 1Peter 4:17

How To Avoid Grieving The Holy Spirit

Bible Audio Blog
19860302pm How To Be Filled With The Holy Spirit - Rev. Tommy Jones

Who is the #HolySpirit?  How do we avoid grieving the Holy Spirit?  What does that tell us about the Holy Spirit that we can grieve Him?  What part of our #body tends to give the Holy Spirit the most grievance?  Hint: it is as sharp as a two edged sword.  Surprise, the Bible tells believers to get angry.  But, what kind of angry?  What is meant by sexual immorality and uncleanness?  What does ’separated living’ mean?

Editor’s note:  I took the liberty of changing this message title from the original ‘How To Be Filled With The Holy Spirit,’ because I felt this subject was more fully addressed in other offerings.

The LIVING GOD #INCORRUPTIBLE

With the changing season, I got out a pair of enclosed cold weather shoes which I started to put on when I noticed the rubberized sole was sticky!  As I looked more closely, the sole was cracked and crumbling even though the shoe looked impeccable.   That seems to me to be a picture of many people around the world today.  They look good, but what about the foundation upon which they walk?  Our stock market is up then down; precious metals and commodities tumble; banks close.  What can you trust?  The word of a politician?   I say, look to the LORD; read His WORD; PRAY; HOPE; REJOICE.   “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy has caused us to be born again to a living  hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance INCORRUPTIBLE (which cannot decay),  and undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for YOU, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time...Rejoice, even though now for a season you have distress by various trials:  proof of your faith being more precious than gold which is perishable, though it be tried with fire, may be found to result in praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ; whom you have not seen, you love Him, and believe in Him…obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.” 1PETER1:3-9  Those shoes are gone, but my soul is saved…walk with me in His Grace!

How To Face Problems

Bible Audio Blog
19860105pm How To Face Problems - Rev. Tommy Jones

So you think you have #problems?  Do you assess the cold hard #facts and then proceed?  That may be a good quality at work or in a few of your day to day decisions, but what is wrong with that approach to spiritual problems, or really any problem for a Christian?  When God asks ‘what is that in your hand?’ is He curious or is He reminding us?  What can happen when we let go?  What roles does our perspective play in the way things turn out?  How has previous experience taught us to face the future?
