THE LIVING GOD – TAUGHT

from Barbara's Bible

School is back in session.  Do we ever stop learning?  I know I am constantly faced with new information, concepts, inventions, and change!  When I received a B.S. degree, I had only just begun on my adventure in acquired knowledge.  In order to teach school, there are many hours of study and preparation.  Through the past fifty years, I have taught numerous children in public schools, private school, and church Sunday schools all the while learning more than I taught.  The one book that has remained constant in my search for knowledge has been the Bible – the word of GOD.   “O GOD, THOU HAS TAUGHT ME FROM MY YOUTH: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.  Now when I am old and greyheaded, O GOD, forsake me not until I have shown Thy strength unto this generation, and Thy power to every one that is to come.” Psalm 71:17,18  They shall all be TAUGHT OF GOD“John 6:45  “LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY, and Jesus said, When you pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.  Give us day by day our daily bread and forgive us our sins; as we forgive everyone that is indebted to us.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Luke 11:2-4    May we listen and learn from GOD’s WORDS.

The Winning Witness’ Training

We expect athletes to #train before they ever #compete in a #game or event.  But, what would you call a person who trains constantly but never gets in the game?  Witness training is something that can be done throughout your life but it should be used along the way.  What is the burden or debt a Christian owes to a non-Christian?  What did Paul mean when he said he was ready and not ashamed?  What is the secret to becoming a fisher of men?  What role does prayer play in witnessing?  How about the reading and studying of the Word of God, the Bible?  What can we learn from Jesus’ example about being social?  Are you isolating or insulating?  How adaptable should we be?

THE LIVING GOD IS NEVER WEARY

Are you weary?  Webster’s dictionary states weariness comes from having one’s strength impaired by toil, suffering, fatigue, or having one’s patience, tolerance, or liking exhausted.  Now that sounds to me like all of our present day society!  If you listen to what is being presented by every news feed or broadcast, one would stay depressed; however, they have the latest pill for your problem and even include all the side effects to those miracle pills.  So what you gonna do?  Just keep on keeping on with the same ol same ol?  How is that working out for you?  Listen to the word of the Lord in Isaiah 40:28,29 “Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the EVERLASTING GOD, THE LORD, THE CREATOR OF THE ENDS OF THE EARTH DOES NOT FAINT AND IS NEVER WEARY...there is no searching of His understanding.  He gives power to the faint and to them that have no might He increases strength..31.  they that wait upon the LORD SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and walk and not faint. I claim these words today from Ps.55:22 “Cast your burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain you”

The Winning Witness’ Task

Do you have a #ToDoList?  Christians have one given to them by #Jesus Christ Himself.  We have been given a big task.  How can we complete it?  Where do we find the power to share the good news of the Gospel to anyone, anywhere, and at anytime?  What are some of the roadblocks we can run into while witnessing?  What message are we supposed to be sharing?  Are there duties beyond witnessing once someone has accepted Jesus as their personal Savior?  Carrying out this Great Commission comes with a promise.

THE LIVING GOD – PROMISED

from Barbara's Bible

I promise you,” can be said; however, how good is the word proclaiming the statement?  Do you stay true to your word?  How many statements are proclaimed through texting, tv, internet, business and politics in a day?  The lyrics of a song from ‘My Fair Lady’ which states “Words, Words, Words, I’m so sick of words” are more appropo to our current society than when they were penned.  There is a saying which I heard in my childhood from my father – “A man is only as good as his word”  What has changed?  It seems to me that people are talking out of both sides of their mouths!  If you promised another person something, are you going to stand by it?  In other words, some say one thing, but act another way.   Does the Bible record words of God ever making a promise?  Please read James 1:8 “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.”  1:12-20 “Every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed (trapped) When lust has conceived, it brings about sin,and sin when finished brings about death.  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted by evil nor does He tempt any man,  Blessed is the man that endures temptation:  for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the LORD HAS PROMISED TO THEM THAT LOVE HIM.  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, nor shadow of turning.  Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth!”  I choose to stand on the Word of GOD and believe HIS PROMISES.

The Winning Witness’ Type

Let’s begin an eight week series of lessons on being a #winning #witness.  No one can be a witness to what they have not experienced themselves.  So, of necessity these messages are directed to believers about how to share the Gospel with their non-believing friends.  Who is our best example or type of a perfect witness?  Of course, Jesus was chosen by God, but are we?  How do we know that witnessing is not just the responsibility of preachers and missionaries?  Did Jesus depend only on Himself to be a winning witness or did He get help from the Father?  What part does judgement play in this process?  Is there also Grace involved?  Was Christ witnessing in a free and open environment?  What can we learn about His approach to the lost?  Did Jesus win over everybody?  And yet the Bible declares Him victorious.
