Every #NewYear many of us renew or start resolutions.  What better #resolution than to walk with God?  What are some of the reasons that inspire us to walk with God?  What does the name Methuselah mean and what can it show us about God’s patience?  What kind of vision did Enoch’s faith give him?  What does fear have to do with wisdom?  God promises to order the steps of one group, which one?  What can we learn from how long Enoch walked with God?  What challenges did he face that are similar to ours?  I hope that ours is the generation that sees the church taken up like Enoch but if not, we can still meet up afterwards.

Here’s a #riddle for you.  God thought it, Jesus wrought it, the Holy Spirit brought it, the Devil fought it, and I’ve got it.  What is it?  God thought up a plan to reconcile sinful man back into His fold.  Jesus had a specific sacrificial purpose to fulfill in that plan.  The Holy Spirit was given to us to keep that plan available to us constantly.  Satan wants to thwart this plan, no matter the cost.  Like my father, who is delivering this message, I have got it; not because of my own efforts, but because of God’s.  And you can, too.

How far in advance was the first coming of #Jesus foretold?  How far ahead was it planned out?  If Christ was a gift to us, and He definitely was, what did we do to deserve Him?  What unique qualities came with this gift?  We are all born and die, but Jesus was born to die.  Why is that good news?  Who’s name is on this gift?  Unlike some of the other presents you will receive this year, how long will this gift last?  Sorry about the jumpy potato quality of this week’s recording.

#Joy to the World, the Lord is come.  How do we fill every day with joy?  Does it have to be situation dependent?  What happens when we search for joy apart from the Lord?  If we are to believe the media, it can be found in products, wealth, or fame.  But what do people have to say that have been down those paths?  What does Jesus have to say about it?  Where do we need to learn to dwell?  What do we need to learn to do?  How hard do we have to work to bear fruit?  How does bearing fruit relate to joy?  How important is this word, abide?

#Christmas is ‘the most wonderful time of the year.’  So, why do we have a spike in depression rates every year at this time?  Lack of daylight, reduced outdoor activity, expectations versus reality; whatever the reason, depression can be sporadic or ongoing and can be a problem for any of us.  How can we defeat it?  When the cares of the world are pressing in on us where should we turn?  Where do we tend to turn?  What does the Bible say about physical causes of depression?  What does God say in His word, the Bible, about overcoming other causes of despair?  I hear people say that God won’t put more on you than you can bear, but the closest verse to that in the Bible is 1 Corinthians 10:13 which says ‘There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.’  That is talking about temptation which doesn’t come from God at all.  But, when it comes to hardships and struggles which certainly can be more than we can handle and are in fact, allowed by God, He has graciously provided a way through if we are willing to put our Faith in the proper place.  Listen for one of my favorite verses Romans 8:28.

Is #prejudice a new problem?  Of course not, people have been making prejudgements about people and situations since the beginning of time.  It saves us time and energy to apply previous experiences or second hand stories to every situation we face in order to quickly decide how to proceed.  But, this time saving habit can keep us from experiencing some of the most wonderful experiences in life.  What would Nathaniel have missed if he had not been willing to overcome his prejudice against people from Nazareth?  Do you avoid certain groups of people because of how you were raised?  Will you miss out on Heaven because of an experience you had or something you heard?

If the Son of God, who was present at the creation of all things according to the Bible, was outwardly #thankful for certain things during His time with us shouldn’t we be thankful as well.  Jesus Christ showed His gratitude for many things during His recorded ministry, but He specifically gave thanks to the Father in these four different examples Brother Tommy talks about which have implications for us all.

What is the greatest tool the #Church has to counter the weapons the #Devil has to throw against it?  The #partnership of the people in #prayer.  What effect can influential people have on these partnerships?  How about so-called insignificant people?  Are there any unimportant partners in prayer?  So, people are important.  But, to what purpose?  What kind of power can we expect when we gather together partners in prayer?  What chains can we break?  I have seen a church rally around a young man nearly killed in an accident and the sudden rally of recovery that came upon him.  Perhaps you too have seen what can happen when the Church comes together in a prayer partnership.
