The Faithfulness of God

19820919pm The Faithfulness Of God - Rev. Tommy Jones

Does #God save everyone that calls upon His #name?  What measure did He take to show us He means what He says in the Bible?  Accepting His Son’s death and resurrection as a sacrifice for your own sins is the most important step, but it is just the beginning of the journey that God has planned for you.  What is expected of us?  What kind of assistance can we expect along the way?  Is the purpose of following Christ only to go to Heaven or are there some things we need to be doing now?  Faithfulness is a two way street.  We believe God will be faithful according to His Word and He desires for us to be faithful, too.

Marks Of Eternal Security

19850113 Marks Of Eternal Security - Rev. Tommy Jones

Did you know that there is a book in the #OldTestament named Amos?  The reason I ask this is because it is not quoted very often and taught even less, but God put everything into the Bible for a reason.  And here, Brother Tommy shows us a powerful lesson we can pull from this book.  Why would an all powerful God not stop bad things from happening, especially to His chosen people?  What are the two aspects of God’s identity that we need to keep in mind?  Can we change the path of future events through prayer?  How does prayer give us perspective?  Amos asked the Lord not to implement his first two visions, but not the third.  Why?  After delivering his vision for the country, how was he treated?  Did he take advantage of their suggestions of security or did he hold out for God’s better plan?

God is still offering security to those willing to confess their sins and give Him control, click on the Gift link on the front Page of findbibletruth.com

Salvation Scenes

19820822pm Salvation Scenes - Rev. Tommy Jones

According to vocabulary.com:  #Foreshadowing is an advance #sign or #warning of what is to come in the future.  According to Brother Tommy and many other Bible scholars, the Old Testament is full of foreshadowing that points to the sacrifice God will make in the New Testament of His only Son to save us from our own sins.  One of these events occurred during the release of the Jewish people from Egyptian bondage.  Why was this area of Egypt under a death sentence?  Why are we today?  Were the Jewish people immune?  What did they have to do to show their faith?  Why did they have to use the blood of a sacrifice?  What passed over the obedient ones?  How does this relate to the salvation of everyone today, Jewish and Gentile (non-Jewish) alike?

The Discipline Of Disappointment

19820829 Discipline Of Disappointment - Rev. Tommy Jones

Does becoming a follower of Jesus Christ exempt us from problems?  Why not?  Did it work for Jesus himself or his disciples?  Why is it a good thing that we don’t know what Paul was dealing with when he talked about his thorn in the flesh?’  How did he try to rid himself of it?  Did it work?  What can we take away from this example?  What does adversity do for growth and learning?  Is there a promise that goes with suffering?  Do you ever feel like you are too weak to be used by God?  What does the Bible say about that?  What counter-intuitive response did Paul show us to employ when dealing with setbacks?

Without Jesus Christ in your life, disappointments can be devastating.  For help with your setbacks click on the Gift link on the front Page of findbibletruth.com

Reasons For Running The Race

19820418pm Reasons For Running The Race - Rev. Tommy Jones

Do you run a #marathon, #halfmarathon, or a #triathlon?  Which race you run makes a big difference in the way you train.  Which race was Paul talking about in Hebrews?  What are some things we should cut out of our lives to run the race well?  What kind of weight should we shed?  What kind of food should we eat?  How should we practice to prepare?  How do we build endurance for this marathon?  For what kind of audience do we run?  Is there a trophy at the end of this race?  What runner should we imitate?  Have we been left to run this race alone?

When You Pray

19840205pm When You Pray - Rev. Tommy Jones

Everybody #prays at some point.  From the #atheist shaking his fist at God and shouting, “you don’t exist” to the beautiful daily, maybe even constant prayer of a grandparent.  What did Jesus Christ say about what makes a good prayer?  After all, wouldn’t the Son know what the Father wants to hear?  What is more important, eloquence or sincerity?  What is the flaw in trying to be less than honest with God?  What helps us to be thankful?  Is it selfish to pray for yourself?  When should you pray publicly and when should you do so privately?  How does privacy make prayer better?  I have a son.  Do you think that he only speaks to me in front of other people?  Does he speak to me in Olde English?  I promise you we communicate on a much deeper level when we have a one on one conversation without music or television in the background.  And the same goes for my conversations with my Heavenly Father.
