Life and Death in Proper Perspective

19820613 Life And Death In Perspective - Rev. Tommy Jones

Whenever a major event occurs and different eyewitnesses are asked to describe what happened, even though they all experienced the same event, their recollections will be different.  Why?  The answer is perspective.  What does our perspective have to do with our values?  How do we align our values with what is right?  What should be our perspective on life and living?  How can that change the way we live and interact with others?  What does JOY stand for?  What is the proper Christian perspective on death?  What is the opposite of ‘the lesser of two evils’?

Avoiding Life’s Stopping Places

19820829pm Avoiding Life's Stopping Places - Rev. Tommy Jones

Brother Tommy loved the mountains and even followed the Blue Ridge Parkway from one end to the other on one occasion.  If you ever get the chance to visit all or part of it you would truly be blessed by the sight of God’s creation.  How much more awestruck were the disciples when they saw Jesus, Moses, and Elijah all together?  Surely that is as good as it gets.  Do we ever stop and rest on previous accomplishments?  What happens to everybody else when we circle the wagons?  ‘The opposite of exclusive is evangelical.’  Do we have to come off the mountain?

You can’t come off the mountain if you haven’t been to the mountain.  Have you been to the mountain yet?  Click on this link:

Are you in a jail of your own choosing?  is it one of emotion, addiction, maybe even physical?  What can we learn from Peter’s experience? How do we get peace about it?  What role does prayer play?  What kind of power can we expect?  What do we do once we get out?  How do we use it to glorify God?

God’s Blueprint For Happiness

19880417 God's Blueprint For Blessing - Rev. Tommy Jones

When you read the Bible it might be helpful to know that you can substitute the phrase ‘Happy is” for the term ‘Blessed is.’  What does God say about the path to happiness?  Does it matter with whom we associate?  What weight should we put on advice that leaves out what God has instructed?  What is wrong with being with people that are doing sinful deeds?  What is scorn?  Okay, now that we know what not to do, what do we need to know to become proactive?  What does the reading of God’s Word, the Bible have to do with our happiness?  How should we approach this study?  Where will this study of God’s Word lead us?  What will it produce in us?

If There Were No Easter

19870419 If There Were No Easter - Rev. Tommy Jones

Some people celebrate Easter with candy instead of Christ.  What if Easter was nothing more than the beginning of Spring?  What if Jesus Christ had died on the cross and never rose from the grave?  Paul gave five examples of how this world would be a darker place.  What would it mean for our time on Earth?  What would it mean for our time afterward?

Tragedy, Tears, and Triumph

What did Jesus Christ have against graveyards?  What does the true life drama of Lazarus have to do with Christ’s purpose here on Earth?  Why did Jesus delay His departure when He heard about His gravely ill friend, Lazarus?  What is death without Jesus Christ?  What is life without Him?  Does Jesus care whether we follow Him or not, whether we live or die?  Are we grieving the Lord with our limited Faith?  Evidently, God is the inventor of foreshadowing.  Have a joyous Easter!

How do we perform what we know is right?  Does this happen to anyone else?  If you have listened to the rest of the messages in this series, you know why you should share the love of Jesus Christ with others.  But how?  Where do we start?  Does every Christian have a testimony?  What does the Bible mean to ‘sow in tears?’  Can a farmer go out and harvest a field that he has ignored all season?  Is a personal story enough?  What other ingredients are necessary to witness to the unsaved?

If you have listened to this series straight through, skip to 3:11 to avoid the recap.

This message is directed at Christ followers and encouraging them to tell others about the hope they have found in Jesus Christ.  If you want that hope for yourself, click on this link:

What percentage of Christian believers actually witness to others about the saving Grace of Jesus Christ?  Should we be satisfied with those who are saved already?  Oswald Chambers, the author of ‘My Utmost for His Highest,’ among others said that, “good is the enemy of great.”  How important is persistence?  What is our reward for sharing Christ with others?
