Serve One Another – As Christians, we have been freed from sin, but freed to do what? We have been freed to serve Christ and others. We are to serve each other spiritually. Have you ever heard of the Fruits of the Spirit? But we have to get past self first.

Comfort One Another – Don’t worry everything will be alright. Or will it for everybody? Christians have unique assurances given to them by the Lord. And they are in an excellent position to spread comfort to others from the truest and purest source of joy.

Admonish is not a word that we use very often if at all today. It means to correct someone especially regarding duties or responsibilities. That is why Brother Tommy says this is such a delicate matter. There are several things to keep in mind before fulfilling this ‘one another’ command. I like the way he balanced this message by using it the same day as he taught the ‘Encourage One Another’ lesson.

We all need encouragement. We crave it and so do those around us. This is the seminal message in this ‘Build Each Other Up’ series. Encouragement is the most positive way we can support other believers. And Christian encouragement is much more satisfying than the encouragement offered by the world.

Edify (to build up) one another. Why should we? Because we, as believers, are all part of one body. Do all parts of the body function the same way? Just because your eye differs from your hand, should your hand attack your eye? Absolutely not, they should work together.

It is one of the hardest things for us to do. We don’t want to be weak or to have people take advantage of us. But we have the ultimate example, Christ died for us to buy our forgiveness of sins from God the Father. And with His help we can fulfill this commandment. How many times do we have to forgive? What are the proper steps to forgiving others?

#2 for today. Brother Tommy starts with the Good Samaritan story. Did you know that all the people that passed by the Jewish man that needed help that day were supposed to be his ‘friends’ and that the Samaritans and Jews did not even talk to each other? That makes it even more amazing to me that he stopped to help this stranger.
