Part 6, Life out of death?  Brother Tommy asks, “Can I convince you that you would be better off dead?”  What?  Just listen for the explanation.  Reverend Jones explains several of the Bible’s many allegories about seeds and relates them to the normal Christian life.

Part 5 is about how to enter into the “Normal Christian Life” through surrender.  In other words “let go and let God.”  This message is full of great examples to illustrate Biblical concepts.  I especially liked Brother Tommy’s story about medicine.  To experience His presence we have to recognize His possession. What about that one thing you can’t or won’t release?  Will God accept partial surrender?

Just a note to let you know some of what was going on when God was molding Tommy.  You may have heard Tommy say that he made the decision to surrender to God’s control of his life and ministry in October of l963.  What you didn’t know was the tumult  that our family was facing.   Tommy felt he could take care of his wife, three yr. old daughter  and a  new son  while pastoring a new congregation in Midland, Texas..   He soon found out that humanly it was impossible.  Our son was born in Sept. of 1963, a beautiful 8 lb 16oz armful who could not keep anything on his stomach.  Instead of gaining weight he was losing.  With each trip to the doctor other treatments would be tried.  After eight weeks  the surgeon was called.  We had a child that was projectile vomiting everything he swallowed and was down to six pounds.  He had pyloric stenosis and the surgeon was able to release it; however, upon returning home he had to be fed a few ounces every twenty minutes around the clock.  You can imagine how much sleep you can get on that schedule.  At the follow-up visit, the doctors told us that the trauma to his early development had not allowed his body to heal the opening between the two chambers of his heart.  This would mean that he could not be in the church nursery or around others for at least a year.   In the midst of all the stress,  Tommy turned to God and  relied on God’s word  2 Corinthians 12:9 ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.  Most gladly therefore I rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me ….for when I am weak then I am strong.”   God has been so good, our son is now a mature christian man with  two children of his own..  I want to thank  Jeffrey for using his time and talents to make these sermons available to you over the blog.  To God be the glory.      Barbara  Jones

In part 4 we learn what to expect from the “Normal Christian Life.”  So far in this series we have found out that God does not just want us to be saved from our sin.  He has a plan for us to have a better life here on earth, which is what Brother Tommy calls the normal Christian Life.

Who lives the “Normal” Christian Life?  That answer is what we find out today in this archived message from Rev.Tommy Jones.  Listen for a handy illustration near the 24 minute mark.  As Barbara Jones shared with me today Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.”

What do you mean I might be a carnal Christian?  In Part 2,Brother Tommy explains what it means to be an average or carnal Christian.  He also elaborates on why it is difficult and unfulfilling.

A note about these messages:  These sermons go in order from Sunday morning to Sunday night back to the next Sunday morning again in part 3 and so on.  Also remember that these are 39 year old tapes transferred to digital archives.  Every effort has been taken to keep them distortion and pause free, but sometimes it cannot be helped.  May the Lord bless your life with these messages that He laid on Brother Tommy’s heart.  Feel free to share these with others through Facebook, email, Twitter, etc.

Part 1 of 10 in the Normal Christian Life Series.  Here we learn that there are 3 kinds of people in this world:  non-believers (or natural man), average (or carnal) Christians, and normal (or spiritual) Christians.  This series was presented to Rev. Tommy Jones’ congregation in April and May of 1972 and is just as relevant today as it was then.  It is my hope that by sharing this with you, you will either see your need for Christ or improve your Christian life by stepping into the Promised Land.

Is the HeavenlyCity literal or symbolic?  Will it just exist during the Millennium or is it eternal?  Who will inhabit this city?  Where is the Heavenly City, New Jerusalem?  Will nations still exist?  How is it described?  New Jerusalem will be at least 1500 miles up, down and across.  By the way the moon is 2159 miles in diameter, just saying.  Listen to its composition.  It sounds wonderful.  Will the redeemed of the Old Testament be in New Jerusalem?  How about Israel?  How do you get there?  What will life be like there?  Will we know more?  Will we be sin free?  Will we be happy?  Will we be productive?  I pray this series glorifies God and either confirms your commitment to Christ or makes you yearn to receive Him.

Ah, this is a much better subject.  Heaven is also an eternal destination.  All Believers will be there Old Testament, New Testament, Church Age, and even Tribulation / Millennium Believers.  But will everybody be in the same place experiencing the same things?  If there are different rewards, will there not be jealousy?  Does the Bible talk about positions of service in Heaven?  Is there more to do than floating around?  Everything is complete and Heaven can begin when Jesus gives something back to God, the Father.  Where does the Light come from?  Where is the temple?  What are the Water and Tree of Life?  But most importantly how will we be able to enjoy our creator?  Right now our physical bodies cannot survive in the wonderful presence of God.
