Victory In Jesus

19860914 Victory In Jesus - Rev. Tommy Jones

Has the World gone crazy?  The headlines shout #Ebola, #ISIS, and #GlobalWarming.  With so many deadly perils out there, not to mention the steady countdown of an already finite life, how can we live our daily lives without being constantly saddled with an ever present sense of doom?  And even if we somehow manage to get through life without thinking of all the dangers that surround us, what is the solution for the fate that awaits every one of us at the end?  Brother Tommy shows us the answer in 1 Corinthians.  Death is not a pleasant subject, but without discussing it we cannot appreciate the solution.  How can we take the sting out of death?  Of what is death a consequence and who uses it to their own ends?  Who was the first to defeat death and how?  What does it mean for us?  How can we do the same?  Listen for the great example Brother Tommy gives to explain the ‘shadow of death.’  For those with the victory in Jesus over death, what should be our reaction to death and our daily occupation?

God’s Miracle Medicine

19880612 God's Miracle Medicine - Rev. Tommy Jones

In these days of #anxiety, #depression, and many other stress-related illnesses it seems that everybody is looking for a #miracle #cure.  What are the consequences of a heavy heart?  How does the Bible say this condition affects the soul, the spirit, and the body?  So, if happiness cures a heavy heart, how do we find it when so many people are looking for it without success?  What if I told you happiness is a choice?  True joy comes from choosing Jesus.  Brother Tommy quotes a Reader’s Digest survey on happiness, did he agree with their findings?  Once we attain a healthy heart, what are we to do with it?

Letters Of Our Lord

19880501pm Letters Of Our Lord - Rev. Tommy Jones

What would #Jesus #Christ think about the #churches that have sprung up in His name over the centuries?  What if I told you that Jesus already wrote letters to them knowing what they would become?  See if you recognize your church in any of these letters from our Lord.  A church is made up of individuals and that means that these church profiles also apply to us as individuals.  Do you recognize yourself in any of these descriptions?  Will every Church and Christian get a free pass because of their name?  Works don’t save us but what do these letters show us about the emphasis that will be placed on them?  Will the Church be judged as a whole or will individual motives and efforts matter?  That tells me that joining a great church is important, but it is still a personal responsibility to accept the Lord, grow, and share the Good News.

Demands Of Discipleship

19820418 Demands Of Discipleship - Rev. Tommy Jones

We speak often about the #gift of eternal #life.  Its true, the possibility of eternal life with God was given to us by the selfless sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ and His subsequent resurrection.  That was something that none of us could have accomplished on our own.  But are there things that we are expected to do if we want to be disciples of Christ?  What does discipleship have to do with salvation?  How important is surrender?  What are we expected to surrender?  How often do we need to surrender?  What is the expectation of serving others in the name of Christ?  What sacrifices are Christians asked to make?  Not as motivation, but as reassurance what did Jesus say would happen if we do sacrifice?

The Faithfulness of God

19820919pm The Faithfulness Of God - Rev. Tommy Jones

Does #God save everyone that calls upon His #name?  What measure did He take to show us He means what He says in the Bible?  Accepting His Son’s death and resurrection as a sacrifice for your own sins is the most important step, but it is just the beginning of the journey that God has planned for you.  What is expected of us?  What kind of assistance can we expect along the way?  Is the purpose of following Christ only to go to Heaven or are there some things we need to be doing now?  Faithfulness is a two way street.  We believe God will be faithful according to His Word and He desires for us to be faithful, too.

Marks Of Eternal Security

19850113 Marks Of Eternal Security - Rev. Tommy Jones

Did you know that there is a book in the #OldTestament named Amos?  The reason I ask this is because it is not quoted very often and taught even less, but God put everything into the Bible for a reason.  And here, Brother Tommy shows us a powerful lesson we can pull from this book.  Why would an all powerful God not stop bad things from happening, especially to His chosen people?  What are the two aspects of God’s identity that we need to keep in mind?  Can we change the path of future events through prayer?  How does prayer give us perspective?  Amos asked the Lord not to implement his first two visions, but not the third.  Why?  After delivering his vision for the country, how was he treated?  Did he take advantage of their suggestions of security or did he hold out for God’s better plan?

God is still offering security to those willing to confess their sins and give Him control, click on the Gift link on the front Page of findbibletruth.com

Salvation Scenes

19820822pm Salvation Scenes - Rev. Tommy Jones

According to vocabulary.com:  #Foreshadowing is an advance #sign or #warning of what is to come in the future.  According to Brother Tommy and many other Bible scholars, the Old Testament is full of foreshadowing that points to the sacrifice God will make in the New Testament of His only Son to save us from our own sins.  One of these events occurred during the release of the Jewish people from Egyptian bondage.  Why was this area of Egypt under a death sentence?  Why are we today?  Were the Jewish people immune?  What did they have to do to show their faith?  Why did they have to use the blood of a sacrifice?  What passed over the obedient ones?  How does this relate to the salvation of everyone today, Jewish and Gentile (non-Jewish) alike?

The Discipline Of Disappointment

19820829 Discipline Of Disappointment - Rev. Tommy Jones

Does becoming a follower of Jesus Christ exempt us from problems?  Why not?  Did it work for Jesus himself or his disciples?  Why is it a good thing that we don’t know what Paul was dealing with when he talked about his thorn in the flesh?’  How did he try to rid himself of it?  Did it work?  What can we take away from this example?  What does adversity do for growth and learning?  Is there a promise that goes with suffering?  Do you ever feel like you are too weak to be used by God?  What does the Bible say about that?  What counter-intuitive response did Paul show us to employ when dealing with setbacks?
