Here in America, we are honoring our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day.  But if you are a Christ follower, do you recognize that you are a soldier?  Listen to what Paul says about the Christian life.  Are Christians exempt from struggles and difficulties?  What is involved in the ‘good fight?’  What are the consequences of not fighting?  Have you started but then quit?  What was Paul’s take on departing this Earthly existence?

Do you want to look back at the end of your life and know that it was meaningful?  Well, it starts here:

Why You Love God

Or maybe the title needs to be ‘Why You Should Love God.’  How much love does God expect from us?  What are some misconceptions that keep us from loving God the way we should?  How attentively does He listen to us?  How does He deliver us from death?  Sure, we have all had tough times, but how many tears has God kept from us?  What does Psalms means when it says He looses us from our bonds?

Always great to hear from you, Diane.  'To loose us from our bonds' means that God can free us from anything that is binding us or tying us down.  Whether it is troubles, addictions, sin, or even a physical cause.

Why Does God Love You?

Does God love all of us?  Each and very one of us?  Why would the Creator of all things take the time to care about our short little lives?  Does God ever love us less?  What does the Bible mean when it says we are created in God’s image?  How interested in a city would you be if you had just sent your only child there as a messenger?  There are a lot of good reasons why God loves us, but one simple reason (at the end).

Honor Your Mother

19840513 Honor Thy Mother - Rev. Tommy Jones

When the Bible repeats a statement it gains importance every time.  So, if the matter is mentioned in the ten commandments and by the Lord, Jesus Christ, and once again by the Apostle Paul, it must be pretty important, right?  How do mothers have such great memories?  Why do they have such a sensitive spirit?   How great is it when they have a firm faith in God?  What are the qualities of a Godly mother?  Who helps a mother obtain these qualities?  And on a personal note, I just want everyone to know that I thank God everyday for the Godly woman He gave me to cherish, nurture, and guide me through life, Barbara Jones.

Are you a mother who wants to be everything that God wants you to be?  Are you somebody’s child who wants to honor God?  Click on this link:

Life and Death in Proper Perspective

19820613 Life And Death In Perspective - Rev. Tommy Jones

Monday, April 29th 2013 @ 12:37 PM (not yet rated)

post viewed 237 times

Whenever a major event occurs and different eyewitnesses are asked to describe what happened, even though they all experienced the same event, their recollections will be different.  Why?  The answer is perspective.  What does our perspective have to do with our values?  How do we align our values with what is right?  What should be our perspective on life and living?  How can that change the way we live and interact with others?  What does JOY stand for?  What is the proper Christian perspective on death?  What is the opposite of ‘the lesser of two evils’?

Avoiding Life’s Stopping Places

19820829pm Avoiding Life's Stopping Places - Rev. Tommy Jones

Brother Tommy loved the mountains and even followed the Blue Ridge Parkway from one end to the other on one occasion.  If you ever get the chance to visit all or part of it you would truly be blessed by the sight of God’s creation.  How much more awestruck were the disciples when they saw Jesus, Moses, and Elijah all together?  Surely that is as good as it gets.  Do we ever stop and rest on previous accomplishments?  What happens to everybody else when we circle the wagons?  ‘The opposite of exclusive is evangelical.’  Do we have to come off the mountain?

You can’t come off the mountain if you haven’t been to the mountain.  Have you been to the mountain yet?  Click on this link:

Are you in a jail of your own choosing?  is it one of emotion, addiction, maybe even physical?  What can we learn from Peter’s experience? How do we get peace about it?  What role does prayer play?  What kind of power can we expect?  What do we do once we get out?  How do we use it to glorify God?

God’s Blueprint For Happiness

19880417 God's Blueprint For Blessing - Rev. Tommy Jones

Monday, April 8th 2013 @ 1:04 PM

post viewed 226 times

When you read the Bible it might be helpful to know that you can substitute the phrase ‘Happy is” for the term ‘Blessed is.’  What does God say about the path to happiness?  Does it matter with whom we associate?  What weight should we put on advice that leaves out what God has instructed?  What is wrong with being with people that are doing sinful deeds?  What is scorn?  Okay, now that we know what not to do, what do we need to know to become proactive?  What does the reading of God’s Word, the Bible have to do with our happiness?  How should we approach this study?  Where will this study of God’s Word lead us?  What will it produce in us?
