We love to celebrate a hero.  But what about the one working behind the scenes doing heroic work without much, if any recognition?  Sometimes the job can only be done quietly.  How does the Holy Spirit work in our Lives?  What did the Holy Spirit reveal to Simeon and to us about Jesus Christ?

The Bible Is Basic

How many times have you heard someone say that life doesn’t come with an instruction book?  Well, that is not true.  The Author of Life did not leave us without directions, the Bible.  Where did the Bible originate?  What does it mean when the Bible says that it is inspired by God?  Are some parts inspired and others not? Where should our doctrine originate?  Where do we find right and wrong behavior?  How incredible is it that the Bible doesn’t just say, ‘don’t do this’ and ‘don’t do that?’  It gives us a plan of action toward saving Grace and better living.

John 13:1 – 15 gives us a summary of what Jesus Christ wants us to do by His own example.  How does He want us to love others?  How long and how much did Jesus love people?  How about those that opposed Him?  Did He differentiate with those who disappointed Him?  Or betrayed Him?  How did the most powerful person to ever walk the Earth behave while He was here?  What were His attitude and actions?  What can we learn from this example about how to lead and also how to follow?

By the way, Bear (Brother Tommy) loved good instrumental music and Floyd Cramer was a great pianist with some very catchy tunes.  I am sure you can find some on Youtube if you want to acquaint yourself.

To follow Christ’s example you must first accept who He was, why He died and rose, and make it personal.  To start click here:

Here, in America we are approaching the day we celebrate the anniversary of our nation becoming independent.  Brother Tommy delivered this message in 1984.  29 years later a few things have changed, but not the need for God’s blessings.  What kind of citizens make a nation great?  What role do certain institutions play in a great nation?  What are the enemies of greatness and the solutions to them?  While some of this lesson is uniquely American, any nation can become a Godly nation when the people call on Him.

When we say Jesus is our Lord and Savior, do we know the difference between the two words ‘Lord’ and ‘Savior?’  They are not synonymous and yet we have heard them used together so many times that we rarely stop to think about their individual meanings.  Here, Brother Tommy speaks about what it means to give God Lordship over your life.  What happens when we want to escape the penalty of sin but still want to control our own destiny?  What kind of pain do we risk by not giving control to God, physical pain, regret, guilt?  What can we gain by giving God control of our lives?

Have you tired of the futility of trying to control your own life?  Try God’s plan by starting here:

Brother Tommy loved to eat.  Maybe that is why he loved talking about this passage from the Bible where Jesus is talking about an earthly feast that was prepared in parallel with the heavenly feast that is being prepared.  How has God prepared this feast?  How long has He been preparing it?  Who is invited?  Who does God send to invite these people to the feast?  Who will attend?  What are some excuses that some of the invited give for not being able to attend?  When the intended guests could not attend was the feast called off?

Will you accept the invitation to this feast?  It starts here:

As we approach Father’s Day, let’s look at what the Bible says about how we should raise a family.  We would never give our children something that would harm them.  But are we allowing others to offer poison to our precious ones.  What messages does society pound into us that contradicts God’s Word.  What does the World say about what is important and what our priorities should be?  How do we react to these outside influences?  How do we feed our family properly?

If you want to feed your family properly, it starts here:

Have you ever heard that, ‘it is not what you know, but who you know’?  Well then, you definitely need to know Jesus Christ.  Who is He?  What is His story?  How can He be part of a Trinity?  How did He come to walk among us?  How did He humble Himself while He was here?  What did His death have to do with us today?  Why was it a necessary part of God’s plan for Jesus to die?  Why is it important that His story doesn’t end there?  Can we ignore this story without consequence?

If you want to be able to say,’I will live,’ it starts here:
