In this study of the 6 biggest cults and isms that Brother Tommy presented in 1974 and 1975, I find it interesting that the only mention of Islam is a brief mention by a guest speaker (and therefore is not included in the archives) of a branch called Black Muslims who were gaining popularity at the time.  If Tommy had been able to refresh this series recently I believe he not only would have included Islam but would have started with it.  Muslims fit all the criteria that we have discussed over the past several weeks for these cults and isms.  Followers of Islam put very little if any importance on Jesus Christ, our Savior.  They read and follow a source other than the Bible for their guidance, the Koran.  Those two points alone are enough to put the Islamic religion into this study.  But they like all of the groups we have studied are loved by God and should be loved enough by us to try to understand in order to better communicate to them God’s Plan of Salvation.  But this week’s group is Christian Scientists.  Are they Christian?  Are they scientists?   What is the Mortal Mind?  How can they say that matter does not exist?  Why do they set up so many reading rooms?  Who was Mary Baker Eddy and how much of what she said influenced this group?  What do they believe about God?  What do they believe about sin?   What do they believe about Heaven and Hell?  Again with this and every group on which we focus, we want to understand what they believe and mean by certain terms to better communicate God’s Plan of Salvationwith them.
