What do you want for Christmas?  How about something eternal?  Isn’t it interesting how exciting it is to receive a wrapped gift only to open that gift to find something that you can only use for a little while if at all?  What is the perfect Christmas gift?  What is the purpose of this gift?  What was the cost of it?  What is the difference between free and cheap?  How do we receive the perfect gift?

Sometimes it may be hard to get in the mood for Christmas.  We are bombarded with the commercial aspects of this very holy day when we remember God’s gift of salvation in the flesh.  How do we get a grip on this true meaning?  Why did the Creator of all things stoop to our level?  We say God is a God of love,  but is He capable of hate?  If we are all born into sin because of Adam, how did Jesus avoid this stain at birth?  What would have happened if Jesus had sinned?  What assurances can we draw from the fact that Christ came down to be a sacrifice in our place?  This Christmas season get a grip on exactly what saves us from our sin.

Today’s blog post is a little late.  Sorry, i was quite busy and needed to catch my breath.  Have you ever felt that way?  Who or what is the Breath of God?  Who is the Holy Spirit and what does He do?  How and how often does God give us a breath of fresh air?  This is one of several messages Brother Tommy delivered on old hymns, as always referencing Scripture along the way.  There is an interesting quote about 18 minutes in that tells the secret to being able to do anything we want.  Sounds good, right?

For what are we thankful this week?  I am thankful for you taking the time to listen to the word of God and hearing how this therapy of thanksgiving can change our lives.  Is it easy to be thankful when times are good?  Or do we sometimes forget?  How about when times are hard?  For what is there to be thankful then?  Are we to be thankful for whatever happens or in whatever happens?

What we are most thankful for is God’s most precious gift of forgiveness of our shortcomings and life with Him eternally.  If you want to know more, click here:

Here’s a message that spoke to me recently.  I think it could help all of us right now.  What are the nine steps to victory over our problems through praising God?  Do we avoid our problems?  Do we pray them away?  Is it a sign of something wrong in our life when we have a problem?  When do we pray about our problems?  What has God promised?  What is the order of praise and victory?  Which comes first?  Hint:  it is not the order which we normally give it.

I needed a lesson on love today.  We all have a need to both receive and give love.  What kind of love does God have for us and what kind does He want us to have for Him and others?  If you know the Bible backward and forward but don’t love, what is it worth?  Is there anything more important?  There are a lot of qualities we hold in high regard, but what does the Bible say about it?  What’s wrong with getting what we deserve?  What’s wrong with losing our temper?  What’s wrong with holding a grudge?  What always wins?

We live in a stress filled world.  What qualifies Brother Tommy to speak on issues of mental health?  What are the three biggest threats to mental stability according to the Bible?  Is fear bad or good?  What does the Bible say about healthy fear?  What does God say about overcoming unhealthy fear?  Do you suffer from resentment?  How about feelings of inferiority?  What are the outward signs of these underlying issues?  How does the Lord tell us to handle them?

How does something as tiny as a mustard seed rate a mention by the Son of God?  What mountain are you facing today?  Our god is a god of contrasts, He uses the weak to bring down the strong.  From where do our problems come?  From where does our faith come – willpower, determination, self-control?  How do we get faith originally?  How do we grow it?  What do 99 out of 100 Christians have in common?  What can God do with our growing faith?
