Let me just say before we begin a series on End Times, that if it scares you to think about this you can have peace about it and your place in the End Times.  Those who receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior can be certain of where they will end up for eternity.
In this set of seven messages from 1973, Brother Tommy covers what to expect and look for as the world we know winds to a close.  As true as it was when he delivered these lessons it is even truer today.  Interestingly there is some room for debate in the study of End Times, but the overlying message is not up for  debate.  Time is short, pick a side.  What is the Kingdom of God?  What are we waiting for?  What is the Millennium?  What is Pre-millennial and Amillennial?  What part does the Church play?

Brother Tommy recaps what we have learned over the past several weeks by pointing out what makes these groups a cult or ism.  First he quotes King Solomon from Ecclesiastes 1:9 “There is nothing new under the sun.” Then he goes on to tell us why they are attractive and capitalize on lapses in Christian Churches and teachings called by one writer, ‘unpaid bills.’  What is the right approach to these groups?  Should they be left alone?  Should they be stopped?  Hear what Brother Tommy says about balance on this and other questions.  What part does Satan play in the forming and perpetuation of these groups?  Have you ever wondered how this approach works on Christians?  Around the 24 minute mark, Brother Tommy gives a good example of how he and I (about age 11) could have agreed with a television program from one of these groups if we had not known the origins.  So what do all cults and isms have in common?   Next week, because of the Mayan and Nostradamus controversies I want to start a series Brother Tommy did on ‘End Times.’

Spiritism – believing that we can interact with the dead.  It is all over the television and movies today.  The media is helping to push this fascination onto those around us.  How can they relate this to Christianity?  What do they believe about the Bible and Jesus Christ?  What do they believe about the afterlife?  How do we reach out to someone caught up in the beliefs of Spiritism?

Witchcraft – calling on dark or mysterious forces through spells and incantations to bestow special powers.  What does the Bible say about this practice?  Brother Tommy mentions one more message about Satanism, but it is delivered by a guest speaker and I apologize that it was delivered by a guest speaker and therefore not available to rebroadcast.  But as always, these lessons are about enlightening us about people that need our love and message of hope.

What is the difference between Oriental and Occidental religions?  Who started Hinduism?  How has it changed over the years?  What can we learn from them?  How can we lovingly bring them God’s true Plan of Salvation?  Who was Buddha?  What parallels are there between his story and Christ’s life?  Where does Zen come into their religion?  What is their plan of salvation?
