“I promise you,” can be said; however, how good is the word proclaiming the statement? Do you stay true to your word? How many statements are proclaimed through texting, tv, internet, business and politics in a day? The lyrics of a song from ‘My Fair Lady’ which states “Words, Words, Words, I’m so sick of words” are more appropo to our current society than when they were penned. There is a saying which I heard in my childhood from my father – “A man is only as good as his word” What has changed? It seems to me that people are talking out of both sides of their mouths! If you promised another person something, are you going to stand by it? In other words, some say one thing, but act another way. Does the Bible record words of God ever making a promise? Please read James 1:8 “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” 1:12-20 “Every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed (trapped) When lust has conceived, it brings about sin,and sin when finished brings about death. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted by evil nor does He tempt any man, Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the LORD HAS PROMISED TO THEM THAT LOVE HIM. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, nor shadow of turning. Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth!” I choose to stand on the Word of GOD and believe HIS PROMISES.
