The Joy of Jesus – Available For Calculation – Matter of Risk and Reward – Avoid the Risk

2005025 Joy Of Jesus - Available For Calculation - Matter Of Risk & Reward - Avoid The Risk - Rev. Tommy Jones

#HappyNewYear, in fact I hope you have a happy #decade.  But don’t stop there, have a happy #life.  That is easier said than done.  True happiness is found in Jesus.  Today, we begin a series by Brother Tommy about the joy of Jesus from the book of Philippians.  Rejoice, we have read the end of the book and God wins.  God is in control easily (with His feet up).  This world is temporary and fleeting, if you align your view with the Lord’s you will see a much bigger picture.  So what is the risk Brother Tommy wants to warn us about?  This was almost 15 years ago, and he names names of these risks.  I jumped into the middle of this series, because God led me to this message for this time.  Next week, we will start it from the beginning.

Honorable Nature

Bible Audio Blog
19800611 ROR - As Encouragement To Ethics - Tactical Considerations - Of An Honorable Nature - Rev. Tommy Jones

What is an #honorable or #honest life?  Listen to the three examples Brother Tommy gives about #fiscal responsibility, #immigration, and #economics.  How does dishonesty start?  What does the Bible say about honesty?  How does an honorable life go beyond the honest life?  What does the Bible say about slander, deceit, and even not speaking when we should?  So, we can disobey God whether we are speaking or not.  How can we lead a life of integrity?  Why is it so important to practice at home as well as at work?  The last half of this message must have been written by his wife, my mother, Barbara.  It is about teaching all of this to your children.

Next week we will start to look at what the Bible says about tangible ethics of a personal nature.

THE LIVING GOD #VISIT

When was the last time you had a #visit from anyone?  Years ago, #family and #friends or #acquaintances would actually come to one’s home, sit down, and share a conversation with one another.   You always knew the boisterous one with a lively tale to be told.  Another one was more reserved,  but shared something good that took place recently.  Certain traits of the individuals would manifest through their words shared during  chats at our visit.  As I matured,  I realized patterns that had developed in the lives of those with whom I had shared visits.  Some told whoppers – very embellished events while others very carefully twisted the truth to make themselves look good.  Telling our life adventures and interactions through a one on one visit does not occur often, but the pattern of interaction seems to be repeating  through Facebook and the internet today.   My childhood story of playing with an elephant in the backyard was immediately identified as untruth;  however, today we have Donkeys and Elephants in our dens on TV spouting untruths and we say,  “It’s O.K. everyone lies”   What does GOD SAY as HE VISITS WITH US?  Jeremiah 9:  “Their house is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, said the LORD.  They bend their tongues lie a bow for lies; but they are not brave for the truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not ME, said the LORD.  They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth; they have taught their tongue to speak lies.  Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit;  one speaks peaceably to the neighbor with the mouth, but in the heart lays wait for him.  SHALL I NOT VISIT THEM FOR THESE THINGS, SAID THE LORD: SHALL NOT MY SOUL BE AVENGED ON SUCH A NATION AS THIS?  They have forsaken my law which I set before them and have not obeyed my voice, but walked after the willfulness of their own heartsHEAR the WORD OF THE LORD let your ear receive the WORD OF HIS MOUTH.”
