THE LIVING GOD GIVES POWER

Suddenly #No #Power in your #surroundings!  We are all having more setbacks caused by power #outages whether it is no #electricity, #gas, #water, #food, #internet or #leadership.  Where is your power source?  Have you not known?  Isaiah 40 tells all….”Understand from the foundations of the earth that it is the LORD who sits upon the circle of the earth …and brings princes to nothing and makes the judges of the earth as vanity….HE shall blow upon them and they shall wither being taken away as stubble.  Lift up your eyes on high and behold the LORD who has created all things and can bring out the hosts in great number whom He calls all names by the greatness of His Might, for GOD IS STRONG IN POWER.  Have you not heard?  The Everlasting GOD, The LORD, the CREATOR of the ends of the earth – faints not..The LIVING GOD GIVES POWER to the FAINT and INCREASES THEIR STRENGTH.  Even the young shall utterly fall, but THEY WHO WAIT UPON THE LORD SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH.”  The Living God is our “Power, Light, Water, Bread, Fortress, Victor, & Redeemer.”  God’s supply never fails!

THE LIVING GOD IS JEHOVAH

Where is #truth during the #turmoil permeating #America today?  For such a time as this, I turn to God’s  Word, The #Bible.  “Turn us again, O Lord of hosts, cause Thy face to shine and we shall be saved” Ps.80:7  “O God do not keep silent, or still,  nor hold thy peace for Thy enemies make a tumult and they that hate Thee have lifted up the head taking crafty counsel against Thy people and consulted hidden ones. They said, ‘Come let’s cut them off from being a nation….consulting together with one consent – they are a confederate against Thee. . . Who said, Take to ourselves the houses of God in possession’ …O my God, make them as stubble under the wheel before the wind…who perished & became as waste of the earth.  Persecute them with Thy strange wind and make them afraid with thy storm.  Fill their faces with shame: so they may seek thy name, O Lord.  Let them be confounded and troubled and perish that men may know that Thou whose name alone is #JEHOVAH are the the most high over all the earth” Psalms 83 . . .I pray now “My soul longs, yes, even faints for the COURTS OF THE LORD: my flesh cries out for THE LIVING GOD.”  Ps.84:2

#Codependency and #enablement have become buzzwords for a #toxic type of relationship.  But, the #Bible tells us that it is a matter of where we focus our dependency.  Philippians 4:13 is one of my favorite verses.  “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”  Why do you think that there are so many self help books?  We all need help sometimes and while we can do some things ourselves and others can assist us at times, Christ offers us the ultimate boost.  Have you ever thought there is nothing I can do about that?  Does this mean a Christian should push ahead with confidence without education or experience?  Does that mean we have the power to do reckless or immoral acts?  How does this promise apply to non-believers and God’s will?  As a Believer in Jesus Christ wanting to do God’s will, what are some examples of the things with which we can expect to be enabled?  What are the two things that we need to do to receive this power?

Abiding in Christ

Where do you #live?  You might answer with a #country, a #state, a #city, or you might boil it down to your individual street.  But #Christians have been invited to abide somewhere else by the Lord Himself.  Is the Christian life like a filling station or a home?  What is our example of abiding in Christ?  What are we told about good deeds done in our own strength?  What happens when God’s words become our words?  What should our purpose for living be?  Is there a reward associated with aligning our will to the Lord’s will?

The LIVING GOD #CLOTHED

#Seasonal #change is upon us as #Spring takes on a beautiful new #dressing.  We look in our closet to see what clothes work and are in fittin’ form to be worn.  All my family have a mutual joke about my wardrobe as they winkingly say, “It’s the uniform, again”!  You see, I like an outfit that “feels good.”  Yes, some of mine have been through the wash many times.  I know my favorite clothes cannot last, because fabric wears away with time.  What in the world does not degrade?  Only our Lord and Savior!  Psalm 93 tells us the Lord’s clothing is everlasting!  You say, “What are you talking about?”   I think all the writers for these super heroes in science fiction comics, series, and movies get their ideas on dress, powers, and superior intellect  from the Bible.  You see God is his own designer, manufacturer, writer, producer and director.  v1.&2.”The Lord reigns, HE IS CLOTHED WITH MAJESTY; THE LORD IS CLOTHED WITH STRENGTH, wherewith HE HAS GIRDED HIMSELF;  the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.  His throne is established of old: thou are from EVERLASTING.”    v3.4.5. “The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice;  the floods lift up their waves.  The LORD on high is MIGHTIER than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.  Thy testimonies are very sure: HOLINESS becomes thy house , O LORD FOR EVER.”  Are you looking for a new spring outfit?  Choose Jesus as your covering!   “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have CLOTHED YOURSELF WITH CHRIST” Gal.3:27

The LIVING GOD #PLEADS

When my precocious five year old granddaughter, Rebecca, heard #Woe, Woe, Woe from her grandfather’s sermon, she wanted to hear that again.  That was many moons ago, so this is for you babe!  God’s Word straight from Isaiah speaks to us today as well as yesteryear.

“THE LORD STANDS UP TO PLEAD AND TO JUDGE THE PEOPLE” Is.3:13  

“WOE to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”  Is.5:20

“WOE to them that decree unrighteous decrees and write grievousness which they have prescribed”  Is.10:1

“WOE unto them which declare innocent the wicked for bribes, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him:”  Is.5:23

“WOE to the rebellious children, said the LORD, that take cousel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin.”  Is.30:1

“The wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.  There is no peace, said my GOD, to the wicked.”  Is.57:20,21

With each passing day, I see these words come alive with every newscast, but do not despair – God made a way for us, if we choose Him over our prideful ways.

“GOD is my SALVATION, I WILL TRUST, and NOT BE AFRAID; for the LORD JEHOVAH is MY STRENGTH and MY SONG;  He also is MY SALVATION.”  Is.12:2

 

 

The LIVING GOD #STRONG

Do you watch #power #contests?  Seems we all root for the #strongest athlete, team,or politician of our choice;  however, we are sometimes fooled by appearances or loyalties.  The same thing happens in our daily walk as we make decisions about life choices based on the flavor of the day.  We need to find strength from the strong!  How? You say..  Turn to the Living God – the Strong Source!  Ps.24:8 “The LORD STRONG and MIGHTY in BATTLE”  Ps.93:1 “LORD is clothed with STRENGTH”  Ps.68:35 “GOD of Israel Himself gives STRENGTH and POWER to the people”  Isaiah 26:4 “Lord Jehovah is everlasting STRENGTH” (that’s not the energizer bunny)  Prov. 10:15 “a rich man’s wealth is his strong city”  1Cor.1:25  “GOD is STRONGER than MAN” Ps. 27:1 “the LORD is the STRENGTH OF MY LIFE”   Ps.140:7 “LORD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY SALVATION”

The LIVING GOD #EXERCISES

#Exercise is constantly mentioned for benefiting our #health, #strength, and #well-being.   Whether we choose the latest strength developing gadgets, weights, stair climbers, treadmills or sport drinks, it seems they all work to stretch, extend, lunge. squat and hydrate.  I had never equated the LORD with EXERCISE;  however, as I was reading Jeremiah 10:24….”I AM THE LORD WHO EXERCISES LOVINGKINDNESS, JUSTICE, AND RIGHTEOUSNESS ON EARTH; for I delight in these things.’ declares the LORD.”  Ps.36:5-9  “Thy LOVINGKINDNESS, O LORD extends to the heavens.  Thy FAITHFULNESS reaches to the skies.  Thy RIGHTEOUSNESS is like the mountains of God.  Thy JUDGEMENTS are like a great deep.   O Lord thou preservest man and beast how precious is Thy lovingkindness…They drink their fill of the abundance of Thy house; and Thou dost give them to drink of the river of Thy delights.  For with Thee is the fountain of life in Thy light we see light.  O continue Thy LOVINGKINDNESS to those who know Thee, and Thy RIGHTEOUSNESS to the upright in heart.  Let not the foot of pride come upon me.  And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.  There the doers of iniquity have fallen;  They have been thrust down and cannot rise.”  “Do you not know:  Have you not heard?  The Everlasting God the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. . He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.  Though youths grow weary and tired and stumble badly; yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; “  Ps.40:28-31
