A Miracle With A Message

Imagine throwing a #wedding feast and running out of supplies for the guests, or what if that had happened during your #Thanksgiving dinner or at your upcoming #Christmas party.  Jesus Christ saved the day with a miracle, but what else can we glean from this story?  Who saw the wasted potential of the empty water pots?  What happens to empty people that don’t fill up on the Lord?  How fortunate were these people to have invited Jesus to their wedding?  Can you see Him crashing a party?  No, that is somebody else’s modus operandi.  What was different about the wine Jesus made from the wine served earlier in the feast?  Why is that important for our everyday lives?

The LIVING GOD #FINISHER

Are you a #football #fan?  Having been raised in #Texas, I was taken as a child to football #games with my #father no matter the weather while he explained the plays and players to me as only an former quarterback could. (You see way back then there was no television)   He emphasized the importance of skill, but the ability to persevere through set backs by overcoming determination to finish the game a winner!  I see many football games on TV today that start out good, but they cannot endure the rigors to finish the way they started.  Those football insights my father gave me long ago actually applied to my outlook on life in school, work, relationships, and with the Lord.  As I read God’s Word, I see that GOD IS THE FINISHER.  “Seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto JESUS the author and FINISHER of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of GOD.”

WHAT KIND OF A GAME ARE YOU PLAYING WITH GOD?

Looking For Leaders

19810531 Looking For Leaders - Rev. Tommy Jones

Whether you and your organization are trying to decide amongst #Trump, #Carson, #Cruz, #Clinton and #Sanders or you’re looking for a local leader for your #business, #school, or #church, what should you look for in a leader?  What is the first step and what does it have to do with a mirror?  What does leadership have to do with lordship?  What limits how far a leader can go or how much a teacher can teach?  Would you agree that loyalty is important to leadership?  And if so, to whom?  How about hard work?  Is that important in a leader?  I once had a boss that worked so hard that everyone under him tried extra hard to get things done before he noticed them.  Much thanks to a great Christian boss, Ben Creasman.

Speaking of thanks, thanks be to God from whom all blessings flow.  May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The LIVING GOD #PLEADS

When my precocious five year old granddaughter, Rebecca, heard #Woe, Woe, Woe from her grandfather’s sermon, she wanted to hear that again.  That was many moons ago, so this is for you babe!  God’s Word straight from Isaiah speaks to us today as well as yesteryear.

THE LORD STANDS UP TO PLEAD AND TO JUDGE THE PEOPLE” Is.3:13

WOE to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”  Is.5:20

WOE to them that decree unrighteous decrees and write grievousness which they have prescribed”  Is.10:1

WOE unto them which declare innocent the wicked for bribes, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him:”  Is.5:23

WOE to the rebellious children, said the LORD, that take cousel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin.”  Is.30:1

“The wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.  There is no peace, said my GOD, to the wicked.”  Is.57:20,21

With each passing day, I see these words come alive with every newscast, but do not despair – God made a way for us, if we choose Him over our prideful ways.

“GOD is my SALVATION, I WILL TRUST, and NOT BE AFRAID; for the LORD JEHOVAH is MY STRENGTH and MY SONG;  He also is MY SALVATION.”  Is.12:2

The Great God We Worship

With the rumblings of #ISIS and mentions of #WWIII flying around the #media, we need to remind ourselves who is in charge.  Has God lost control of this world?  What does the Bible say about other religions that try to claim their god is greater than the one true God?  Is God surprised by what is going on today?  The other day I was struck by the fact that when we focus the Hubble Space Telescope at a seemingly empty spot in the night sky, it finds billions of galaxies with billions of stars in each galaxy.  And God not only knows how many are out there, but the name of each star.  Do you think He cares less about the finite number of humans on this planet?  Okay, God knows everything, but is He powerful enough to do something about it?  How much restraint must an all knowing, all powerful God possess to not force everyone to act in everyone else’s best interest?
