THE LIVING GOD RESTORES

#Hurricanes, #floods, #tornadoes, #earthquakes, #volcanoes, #tsunamis are happening throughout our earth with frequency this year!  So many lives lost, towns annihilated, homes and structures destroyed as a result of these horrific storms.  In my lifetime, I have never seen so much natural devastation around the world in such a short period of time.  I am so thankful for good people who are willing to tackle the disastrous consequences of the loss of life, property, water, power, and hope.  The wreckage has to be removed before restoration can begin both physically and emotionally.  In life we depend on others for help, but do we depend on the Lord?  David’s Psalms 23 and 24 are comforting words in the Holy Bible which I read at times like these!  “The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains; the world, and those who dwell therein.  He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers….The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.  HE makes me lie down in green pastures; HE leads me beside quiet waters. HE RESTORES MY SOUL; HE guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for Thou art with me: Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil My cup overflows.  Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”  Ps.19:7 “The LAW of the LORD IS PERFECT RESTORING THE SOUL:  the testimony of the LORD is sure making wise the simple”  I can testify that God restores my simple soul daily, but He gives me freedom to choose.  Will you choose GOD’S RESTORATION?

What is a Quiet Time or daily devotional?  Why is it important to #Christian #growth and #well_being?  How can you know what God says about a subject if you don’t read His Word?  Have you ever wished that God would just tell you what He wants?  This week we have four messages discussing the how and why of this matter.  Lesson 1 covers the how, lesson 2 covers the why, lesson 3 covers the when, and lesson 4 covers the difficulties you may encounter trying to establish this discipline.  Because that’s what it is, a discipline.

THE LIVING GOD HELD ME

from Barbara's Bible

Do you ever need to be #HELD?  We have a german shepherd in our family and he is one big strong dog.  There are times when I will be talking to him and he is overcome with the need to be held on my lap.!  Yes he is larger than I. (Got the picture}  Have you ever felt the love of God calling you closer to Him?  When things are too big and heavy for us to handle with turmoil and injustice surrounding us today, where do you go for solace?  I call on the LORD and read His Word which I want to share with you now.  Psalm 94  “The LORD will not cast off His people, nor forsake His inheritance, but judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.  Who will rise up for me against the evildoers:  or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?  Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.  When I said, My foot slips, thy mercy, O LORD HELD ME UP.  In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul.  Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with Thee, which frames mischief by a law?  They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood, but the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.  He shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yes the LORD our God shall cut them off.” Job 8:20,21 “GOD will not cast away a perfect man, neither will He help the evildoers:  He fill his mouth with laughing and lips with rejoicing.”  May I turn to the LORD for His loving touch and lean not to my own understanding, but LET GOD HOLD ME, comfort me, teach me, and direct me all my days!

The Winning Witness’ Triumphs

Today we wrap up our messages about #witnessing.  Who triumphs when we witness?  Do we always succeed when we share the #Gospel?  How did Paul compare the winning witness’ return to a ticker tape parade?  What kind of captives were part of this parade?  How do they compare to those to whom we witness?  What does Paul mean by making a sweet smell to the Lord?  How do we keep this celebration going?

The Winning Witness’ Trials

If you want to experience #triumph (next week’s message) you will have to pass through some #trials.  In witnessing, what are some of the trials you can expect?  Which ones will you experience before or during the time you are witnessing?  What does Brother Tommy mean by weighing your opportunity?  Can you relate to the unsaved without compromising?  How did Paul adjust his message to his audience?  Will you sometimes be greeted with rejection or even hostility?  How should that be handled?  Are the trials over once a conversion has taken place?  What is the responsibility of the witness afterwards?  How should you keep a new Christian on the right track?  How do you show them the way to feed and grow?  For what marks of insecurity should you look?  How about hindrances or discouragements?
