Many of us look to our #political #leaders to bring us #peace.  Ironically, we are warned in the book of #Revelations about a leader that will soon come with a message of false peace.  But, Paul tells Christians the key to peace is prayer.  What did we learn to pray about last week?  Can we create peace?  How can an enemy of God find peace with God?  Is peace with God the same as peace of God?  The peace we are promised is more than just living in harmony with others.  It is peace that passes all understanding.  But what does that involve?  This is a peace that will guard the heart and mind.  Does that sound good right now?  This is not feel good self help but, rather, a relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Joy of Jesus – Triumphant Suffering – Of An Internal Nature – Emotionally

#Emotional pleas and #arguments can be quite compelling, but absent #logic they can be misleading.  The Bible is full of truth and logic without ignoring the emotional component.  Where do feelings originate?  Here in Philippians, Paul speaks of feelings residing in the heart.  Is that hyperbole?  Maybe, but without the heart we cease to exist.  Was there any better compliment that he could have given them than to say that they were in his heart?  What connected Paul to the church at Philippi?  Does this tell us anything about the communion of Christian fellowship?  When, if ever is defense of the Gospel necessary?  How can we confirm the good news of Jesus Christ?  What proof or pledge does Paul offer to prove his sincere love for these people?  By what measurement does he compare his love?  How can we pour this kind of love into others?

The LIVING GOD #LAW OF LOVE

Law – #order – #justice – #liberty – Sound like a TV series?  The news gives more time and coverage to law breakers then those giving their lives upholding the law.  As I have observed people from the 40’s until today, I see a totally self obsessed society! (selfies -snapchat -get the picture?)  Listen to your recordings, most songs start with “I”.  Indulgence of  drugs and sex are seen as a pastime for the “meet all my needs” person who cannot see beyond his own nose.   Self centered individuals think they are above or can get around all laws.  Just get a lawyer!   Where do YOU go to find the right opinion on law?  Liars prefer to just make it up as it comes up?  In God’s Word, the Bible, we find in Matthew 22:35-40 a lawyer asking Jesus Christ a question before the Pharisees and scribes “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the LAW?  Jesus said to him, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.  This is the first and foremost commandment.  The second is like unto it, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.   On these two commandments depend all the LAW and the Prophets.”  (Might want to read last weeks’ blog, my six year old neighbor taught me the meaning of this scripture)

The LIVING GOD #PEACE

Can you remember the last time you felt peaceful?  This year my granddaughter Rebecca got a new dog which she brought to the farm and as we were all visiting, her “Winnie” laid on my feet which took all the stress out of my body making me very calm. It is amazing how touching animals can remove stressors for the moment.  Jesus said in John 14:27 something we can all hold dear, “PEACE, I LEAVE WITH YOU, MY PEACE I GIVE UNTO YOU,  not as the world gives…let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.”   Then on Christmas Eve, my daughter Jerilyn, son-in-law Michael, granddaughter Victoria and I were attending a candlelight/Lord’s Supper service with chamber music playing as we sang carols holding candles which engulfed the sanctuary with individual lights.  I felt GOD’S PEACE at that moment.”PEACE of GOD, which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:7  During these stressful days and uncertain times, may we turn to His EVERLASTING Word as we start a new year…Col.3:15  “Let the PEACE OF GOD RULE IN YOUR HEART…..and be thankful.”
