BABE IS THE LIVING GOD

from Barbara's Bible

Have you #heard?  Do you #know?  “And so it was, that while Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, the days were completed for Mary to give birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, laid Him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. There in the same country were shepherds staying in the field keeping watch over their flock by night.  Behold the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: they were afraid.  The angel said, ‘Fear not: for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which shall be to all people.  FOR UNTO YOU IS BORN THIS DAY IN THE CITY OF DAVID, A SAVIOUR, WHO IS CHRIST THE LORD.  This shall be a sign unto you; YOU SHALL FIND THE BABE WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES, LYING IN A MANGER.  Suddenly there was withe the angel a multitude of the heavenly host PRAISING GOD and saying, ‘GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST AND ON EARTH PEACE, GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN’ AND IT CAME TO PASS AND THE ANGELS WERE GONE AWAY FROM THEM INTO HEAVEN, the shepherds went to Bethlehem to see what the Lord made known to them .  They came with haste and found Mary, Joseph and THE BABE WAS LYING IN A MANGER.  Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.”  Luke 2 ..and now you know!

THE LIVING GOD #LAMB

‘Away in a manager’ was the Christmas song my precious  two yr. old would sing as she lay on the floor looking under our lighted tree at baby Jesus on the hay surrounded by Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds.  She always wondered why the shepherds were there.  We would say the Bible tells us in Luke 2 that the angel of the Lord came and His glory shone all around the shepherds in the field  while watching their sheep.  The Angels told them to fear not but have great joy, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  You will find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  .  . As the angels were gone back into heaven, the shepherds said, Let’s go into Bethlehem and see what the Lord has made known to us.. With haste they came and found Mary, Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.  After seeing Him they returned, glorifying and praising God and told abroad the saying which was told them concerning the child.”  Many years have passed since our child asked us about those shepherds and what were they doing there in the manager next to baby Jesus.  Today after years of reading and digesting God’s Word, I have learned more about the shepherd/lamb connection.  When a lamb is born who is there to attend to the birth?  The shepherd is the overseer!  Did you know there was only one field (and it was located in Bethlehem) where the sacrificial lambs were raised, kept, and prepared for the Jerusalem Temple to be sacrificed for the sins of the people.  In John 1:29 he says,  “Behold the LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD.”     Rev.7:17 “the LAMB in the center of the throne shall be their SHEPHERD, and shall guide them to springs of the water of life; and GOD shall wipe every tear from their eyes.”

THE LIVING GOD #GIFT

Have you completed your #gift #giving for this #Christmas?   We had an early #family time of #renewal, #celebration, #food, #tree trimming,  and #sharing of our love for one another with a thoughtful personalized gift exchange at the finale for all of us between 18 months and 80 yrs.  I think that was a moving picture of the joy that we could share when we all get to be with our Heavenly Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in Heaven who has made it possible  because of the most precious, valuable, sacrificial gift which the great I AM has given to us.   This year I watched as everyone opened their gifts, and were politely saying, “Thank you”  Then there was Gabe at the realm of his adventurous 18 months, who would open a present and toss it aside (unless it had wheels).  Sound familiar?  Some of the best gifts we receive are very understated.  Yet, I see people rejecting and throwing aside a gift which holds the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven all because they want “Hoopalah” and want it right now!  Yes, many adults even at 80 can still cast aside GOD’s GIFT.  “GOD who is rich…..in mercy, with His great love with which HE LOVED US, even when we were dead in sins, has made us alive together with Christ (by grace we are saved) and has made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: so that in ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us though Christ Jesus.  For by grace are we saved through faith; and that not of yourselves;  IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD Have you accepted His Gift this year?

THE LIVING GOD #RULES

My father and three uncles left to fight in WWll when I was a young child.  I only heard guarded war reports on the radio after the battles took place.  I saw newsreels in theaters where I took the aluminum from the gum wrappers that I made into recycled balls.  I learned of death of a soldier from a plaque with a star placed in the window which had been sent from the war department to that family.  Today we see war and death 24/7 on internet, TV, and our cellphones.  Do we care?  GOD DOES!  “G O D  R U L E S  by HIS POWER FOREVER, His eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves.” Ps. 66:7  “We are complete in CHRIST who is the head of all RULE and POWER” Colossians 2:10-15  “having spoiled principalities and powers.  He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it”  Turning to the Living Lord is the only way to have perfect peace that passes understanding.  “Let the PEACE OF GOD RULE IN YOU HEARTS AND BE THANKFUL”  Col.3:15

19850210 Testimony Of Jesus About John The Baptist - Rev. Tommy Jones

What does #Jesus say about John the Baptist?  We just heard last week how he proclaimed Jesus #Christ as Lord, but here we pick up the story some time later when John was imprisoned for his speech and needed his doubts assuaged.  There is not a Christian alive who has not had a doubt creep in.  Where should we go for answers when this happens?  Blessed is he who is not offended in Me.  What does that mean?  How is that important going forward even now?  What did Jesus say about John the Baptist to his audience?  How do we have the potential to be even greater than John the Baptist?

What does John the Baptist say about #Jesus?  Why is it #important what this man has to say about the #Lamb of God?  How did Christ’s arrival signal a new tone in the way we see God?  John the Baptist considered himself more of a Best Man than a Groom, why?  In conclusion, he gave us a great equation to live by.

The LIVING GOD #RISEN

Looking for the #Easter bunny with chicken #eggs or #Santa with #flying #reindeer?  Are you #amazed at the #yarns we spin over and over to #gullible #people to make #money and over shadow the #truth?   Do story tellers take some truth from the Bible and try to give God’s attributes to fictional entities?   When Jesus, God’s Sinless Son, was crucified and died on the cross for our transgressions (sins), He was able to reconcile us to God the Father if we ask forgiveness and choose to follow Him.   Jesus overcame death and the grave; He Arose the Victor.  Mark 16 records three women Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome taking spices to anoint Jesus’ dead body in the spulchre at the rising of the sun.  When they saw that the heavy stone was rolled away from the entrance they looked inside where a young man clothed in a long white garment said to them, “Be not affrighted you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who has been crucified; HE IS RISEN; He is not here:  here is the place where they laid Him.  Go your way, tell His disciples and Peter that He goes before you into Galilee:  there shall you see Him, just as He said to you.”  Now this is to be record is to be shared for when Jesus met with the eleven He said unto them, “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he who disbelieved shall be condemned.”  Then after the Lord spoke to them He was received up into heaven and SAT on the right hand of God.”  Remember at His trial that the high priest had ask him, Are you the Christ the Son of the Blessed: Jesus said, “I am; and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven”  Keep looking UP

The LIVING GOD #REST

“#Hurry, hurry, hurry!” seems to be the theme for our life today.  The holidays were filled with work and worry to get just the right gifts, decorations, and food to make things joyful.  Was it?  Or are you worn out before you even start on 2016?  Have you checked the weather report before dressing?  Did you answer that text?  What’s the latest news on the internet?  How’s everyone on Facebook?  You’re still on your first cup of coffee while stopping to pump gas before work?  Add to the to do list – make time for a tune-up!  Have to stop and get groceries after work and so the work goes on….meals, laundry, cleaning, yard, and bills – bills and more bills.  How’s that saving’s – investment plan working?  I see a society that is stressed yet constantly looking for escape to a more serene life.  The Lord gave us an example in Genesis 2 “On the seventh day GOD ended His work which He had made; and HE RESTED from all HIS WORK ..which GOD created and made.”  I have watched America change from observing Sunday as a day of rest and worship to a nation that never says CLOSED.  Everyone wants to win the jackpot from the lottery, but I want the sure thing that Jesus Christ spoke,COME UNTO ME ALL YOU THAT LABOR AND ARE HEAVY LADEN, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST.  TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU, AND LEARN OF ME; FOR I AM MEEK AND LOWLY IN HEART; AND YOU SHALL FIND REST UNTO YOUR SOULS”  Matthew 11:28,29
