Have you spent any time on your #lawn, #garden, or maybe a #farm?  Then you know what it takes to get a good result.  Who has invested time and effort to help you grow?  If you have asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you are called to plant seeds and tend to others.  What does the Master expect from His servants?  What is the one ability we should bring to the table when serving Christ?  What are we not able to do in the garden?  Some tasks are better done by certain servants.  What gifts have you been given?  Why is it important to focus on the Master and not the division of labor?  Are there rewards for this task of gardening and how will they be distributed?

The Joy of Jesus – Triumphant Serving – As Exemplified – Through Exaltation

Last week, I skipped ahead in this series on Philippians.  Whether by accident or providence, today we go back to chapter two.  How could #Jesus Christ be fully #God and fully #man?  What is the #contradiction that this shows in our usual model of achieving power?  Many people expected the Savior to be a conqueror, and He will be in the future, but His first mission on Earth was to be a servant and a sacrifice.  In the end, every knee will bow to the Lord.  What does Paul mean by above the Earth, on the Earth, and under the Earth?  From the most apathetic hedonist to the most humble Christ follower and from the most ardent atheist to the most televised preacher and everyone in between, every tongue will confess what?  Will they all do it happily?  Does glory to Jesus take away glory from God?

The Joy of Jesus – Triumphant Suffering – Of An Internal Nature – Courteously

These days we are told that #suffering is to be avoided.  As if we needed to be told to avoid suffering.  Our human nature actually learns at a very young age which actions lead to pain and how to keep from getting hurt.  But, Paul showed us through his writings how to turn our problems into opportunities for triumphant joy.  What circumstance did Paul find himself in while writing to the church at Philippi?  Who was Timothy and why was he mentioned?  What is the significance of calling themselves servants?  Are there positives to being a bond slave to Jesus Christ?  What term did Paul use to describe the Christians at this church?  What is the importance of the qualifier ‘in Christ’?  Where was Philippi located and what was its strategic importance to the spreading of the Gospel?  How did Paul greet the diverse audience of this letter in an inclusive manner?  Why is the order of his words important?

Word of Condescension

In this #ego driven world, everyone is struggling to be #NumberOne, to have others serve them.  But what example did our Lord give us during the last week before His crucifixion and resurrection?  What significance did the Lord’s Supper and its timing have?  Few things make me feel worse than seeing someone i love and respect do something for me that i should have done for them.  Imagine how the disciples felt when they were busy discussing their right hand status and the Lord knelt at their feet.  What was the significance of the washing of the disciple’ feet?  What must have gone through Judas’ mind when this happened?
