Basic Biblical Beliefs – The Unique Person of Christ

19980621 Basic Biblical Beliefs - The Unique Person Of Christ - Rev. Tommy Jones

What does #unique mean?  It means one of a kind, not just rare.  #Jesus Christ is truly one of a kind and He divided more than just the calendar.  What does the book of John tell us about Jesus’ transcendence of time?  How could Christ exist before the world and still come down to walk within this world?  I’ve heard many people argue that if God exists then He should show Himself.  He already has and was killed for His efforts.  But, that was already baked into the plan.  After His death and resurrection, what happened to Jesus?  What do we believe about his dual personalities of God and man?  It took both to accomplish God’s plan to reconcile us to Him.

Liberty In Law – Law of Legacy – Protection of Property

Is #Jesus a #socialist?  What does #God think about the #right to private property?  But wait, does the commandment against stealing only pertain to material things?  What are the only three ways to receive goods and services?  Are we allowed to not only possess property but to protect it?  The Bible has much to say about what how we should use those possessions, but it definitely follows that we have to own and protect property in order to use it to glorify God and to help others.  Can we steal from God?  Is it possible to steal from ourself?  If you think the Old Testament penalties for stealing were harsh, just remember that not measuring up to any part of God’s law means falling short of the Glory of God.  And if you don’t accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will still be guilty.  Let Brother Tommy remind you of all the areas you may have forgotten about like taxes, wages, gambling, and tithing.  Maybe you are sensing a theme through these messages on the Ten Commandments.  If it seems like it is impossible to keep any of these rules, you are correct.  But God sacrificed His Son to pay the penalty for us and give us the power to live abundantly.

A Religion of Remnants

20001112 A Religion Of Remnants - Rev. Tommy Jones

This week, we are going to look at our #worship.  Who do we worship? Is it worthy worship?  Do we worship #creation rather than the #creator?  The Bible says that where we spend our time and money that is where our heart lies.  When we do recognize God with our time and money, are we giving our best or the remnants?  What is the biblical principle of first fruits?

We are taking a 6 week break from our Christ is the Answer series until the new year.

The Joy of Jesus – Triumphant Serving – As Expressed – By Readiness To Give

Now before you say that preachers are always asking for #money, remember this site is not asking for anything.  But, #God wants more than your money.  To follow Jesus properly is to give your life to God.  That means everything including time, skills, and more.  Does that mean you have to quit your job and go work at your church?  Most of the time, no.  God wants us out there serving throughout the community.  Is there anything God has asked of you that you did not want to give?  Can He get it done without you?  Who pays a price when that happens?  You’re not hurting God.  What can we learn from Paul’s writings about Epaphroditus about giving, suffering, and healing?

Heaven’s Welcoming Committee

Bible Audio Blog

What #tools did Jesus tell us to use to make #Heaven a better place?  How can Believers use their #money, #time, and #talents to create a welcoming committee for themselves in Heaven?  There’s a parable in Luke that Jesus tells and it sounds counter intuitive.  It is about a master and a shrewd steward.  Who and what is represented in this story?  What are we to make of His admonition to be like the steward?  How do the children of this world outperform the children of light?  Will you have friends waiting for your arrival in Heaven?

Comfort One Another

As we look forward to the good news of #Easter, let’s look at how to #comfort one another.  Can everybody give comfort? Has anybody told you, ‘everything will be alright’, ‘time makes it all better,’ or ‘cheer up, it could be worse’?  What comfort did Jesus give us in the New Testament?  How did a shepherd use his rod and staff?  Have you even acknowledged the true source of your discomfort?  Does the Bible give us examples of ways not to comfort?  Ever heard of Karma?  Like the great instruction manual it is, the Bible also tells us the proper way to comfort.  And don’t forget the Great Comforter, the Holy Spirit.

Survey of Stewardship

19750105 Survey Of Stewardship - Rev. Tommy Jones

Would it shock you to find out that it was never #God’s plan for #Government to provide all of our needs?  How would you feel if you found out that the Bible states that God provides for us and even provides us with extra in order that we may bless others and that we will be judged accordingly?  What is the purpose of stewardship?  What does Genesis tell us about why we are here?  What is the plan of stewardship?  Do you hold your bank accountable for your deposits?  Of course you do.  Do you get upset when your $10 deposit doesn’t earn a million dollars in interest?  Of course not.  How much more so will a perfect God expect us to be responsible with what He has given to us?  Is God just concerned about what we do with our money?  What about our time, our talents, and our lives?  What is the relationship between giving and living?
