Liberty In Law – Law of Legacy – Protection of Property

Is #Jesus a #socialist?  What does #God think about the #right to private property?  But wait, does the commandment against stealing only pertain to material things?  What are the only three ways to receive goods and services?  Are we allowed to not only possess property but to protect it?  The Bible has much to say about what how we should use those possessions, but it definitely follows that we have to own and protect property in order to use it to glorify God and to help others.  Can we steal from God?  Is it possible to steal from ourself?  If you think the Old Testament penalties for stealing were harsh, just remember that not measuring up to any part of God’s law means falling short of the Glory of God.  And if you don’t accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will still be guilty.  Let Brother Tommy remind you of all the areas you may have forgotten about like taxes, wages, gambling, and tithing.  Maybe you are sensing a theme through these messages on the Ten Commandments.  If it seems like it is impossible to keep any of these rules, you are correct.  But God sacrificed His Son to pay the penalty for us and give us the power to live abundantly.

Christ Is The Answer – The Discipline of Dedication

What should a #Christian do about personal #behavior that they have #questions about but is not explicitly denounced in the #Bible?  Are we willing to set certain activities aside for the glory of God and the good of others?  God offers us guidance, deliverance, assurance, and sustenance.  How are these provisions meant to offset the temptations we face?  What examples can we see in the wandering Israelites that parallel the struggles we face?  What is the danger of believing that we are in good standing?  1 Corinthians 10:13 is the ultimate verse to help us with temptation.

Christ Is The Answer – The Believer’s Body

#MyBodyMyChoice is a much quoted phrase right now.  Is that true according to the #Bible for #Christians?  The Corinthians were surrounded by a culture that said sexual immorality was of no consequence.  Sound familiar?  What does Christian liberty mean?  Are there any limits and what are they?  Should we consider the effect on others?  Will certain actions turn into deadly habits?  Why does Paul bring food into this discussion?   Everything was created for God’s glory including our bodies.  If we are grafted into the body of Christ as Believers, what happens when we give in to sexual immorality?  Many are horrified when a church is defiled but where does Paul say the temple of God is?  How can we avoid sexual sin?  Paul ends on a positive note exhorting us to use our bodies to glorify God.

We are grieving for the loss of a mother, sister, and a daughter who was also a cofounder of this site, Jeanetta Jones Daniel.  But, we know by her love that she was a Believer in Jesus Christ and that she is in a much better place with the Lord now.

The Joy of Jesus – Serenity In Your Contemplation – Ground For Greeting – In The Present

Have you ever heard of the #Doxology?  Praise #God from whom all #blessings flow!  Last time, we learned that God provides all His children’s needs.  This week we hear what our proper response should be.  It even ties back to Paul’s theme in Philippians about the Joy of Jesus. Joy in our lives comes from knowing our purpose.  Why are we here if not to glorify God?  Have you ever tried counting your blessings when you are feeling down?  It helps and you should take it further and thank the one who gave you those blessings.  How do we glorify God?  Does all the glory belong to God?  Why is it important to practice giving glory to God now?

#Want and #need, do you know the difference?  If you put the wrong emphasis on verses like this you wind up with what is called a #prosperityGospel.  Like we talked about last week, the motive matters.  We don’t give to receive, we give to honor God and as a result we receive all our needs.  Have you ever prayed to God for a thing you thought you needed only to realize later that it was really a want?  Are all of our needs good things?  Do we sometimes need correction?  What does it mean when the Bible says ‘according to His riches in glory?’  Well, I haven’t met or heard of a rich man yet who can afford to create a planet full of biodiversity much less a universe.  Oh and don’t forget the qualifier at the end that Paul loves to use – in Christ.

The LIVING GOD #GLORY

#GLORY, #splendor, and #honor are attributes which are rare.  I am in awe when I see a magnificent sunset or the evening sky filled with twinkling stars so I can only imagine the splendor and glory all around Jesus Christ on the night of His earthly birth.  Luke 2 records how shaken the shepherds in the fields watching their sheep were when the  “angel of the Lord stood before them and the GLORY OF THE LORD SHONE AROUND THEM..the angel said, ‘Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy for all people; today in the city of David there has been born for YOU a SAVIOR, who is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’  Suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘GLORY TO GOD in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”  We see big productions on large screens or at Disney World or in church programs, but from what source does REAL GLORY come?    Jesus lifting His eyes to heaven said in John 17, “I GLORIFIED THEE (FATHER)  on earth having accomplished the work which Thou gave Me to do and now,  GLORIFY  ME  together with THYSELF, FATHER,  with the GLORY which I had with Thee before the world was.  .  . Father, I desire that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold MY GLORY, which THOU GAVE ME; for Thou loved Me before the foundation of the world.”  May We Behold HIS GLORY….
