With #Science and #Faith, it is not an either/or situation. But one does go further than the other in explaining the world around us. What does today’s lesson refer to when it says problem or profit? Brother Tommy is referring to the Bible, God’s Word. If we had perfect knowledge would there be any conflict with the Bible? How does it inform our ethics? For today we start with science. How was the earth formed? How can scientific advancement bless and curse us at the same time? How has the make up of the scientific community changed over the years? Do Science and the Bible contradict each other? What causes friction between these two fields? How can they be reconciled?

Some people get uncomfortable when the subject of #money is brought up. Why is that? Well, probably because whoever is speaking is usually asking for some of your money. If you are a created being and the Lord provides all of your needs as the Bible tells us, is there really such a thing as your money? Why is the Church concerned about taking up a collection? Why does it concern us, believer or not? How does concern for the collection dovetail into God’s concern for our salvation? What does the Bible say about the timing of the collection? What is said about who should participate in the collection? How about where it goes? What does the word tithe mean? What is the purpose for taking up a collection?

Would it shock you to find out that it was never #God’s plan for #Government to provide all of our needs? How would you feel if you found out that the Bible states that God provides for us and even provides us with extra in order that we may bless others and that we will be judged accordingly? What is the purpose of stewardship? What does Genesis tell us about why we are here? What is the plan of stewardship? Do you hold your bank accountable for your deposits? Of course you do. Do you get upset when your $10 deposit doesn’t earn a million dollars in interest? Of course not. How much more so will a perfect God expect us to be responsible with what He has given to us? Is God just concerned about what we do with our money? What about our time, our talents, and our lives? What is the relationship between giving and living?

Think Small

Now that we have #celebrated the birth of the baby #Jesus, let me encourage you to think about what that means in your life. It can be overwhelming unless you think small. Where do we start? What does influence have to do with ripples on a lake? From this passage, what can we see that Christ expects from us in terms of loving others? How do we turn thought into action? What does the reaction of the audience in these verses tell us about their motives?
