What was your #resolution this year?  Was it to make better use of your #time?  What does the Bible say about the best way to use our time?  Why is right now called the present?  Because it is a gift from God.  What two days are able to steal the joy and productivity from today?  Wasting or killing time is akin to what?  Where should we find our priorities?  See procrastination as a what?  Ouch.  Are happiness and joy a choice?

Looking Backward And Forward

#NewYear’s is a time for #lists both of what has been and what is to come.  How about looking further than just a year?  What are some things God has already given to us?  Do we find God or is it the other way around?  Are there any promises in the Bible that have been fulfilled?  How can we take on God’s nature and what can we overcome with it?  With all of these blessings, what is left to look forward to?  What needs to be done first?  What do we add to this first step?  What are the 8 things God has said through His Word that we should grow for the rest of our lives?

The Birth of Christ

Bible Audio Blog
19801221 The Birth of Christ - Rev. Tommy Jones

Is it possible to have #Christmas without #Jesus Christ?  There are an awful lot of people out there trying to do just that these days. But without the proper reason for the celebration included, these #inclusive, #politicallycorrect festivities go off the rails.  Was the birth of the Savior an afterthought, a bandaid for the human condition or was it planned and foretold far in advance of His arrival?  What reasons would God have to send part of Himself, His Son, down to our level?  Brother Tommy takes us through a few of the hundreds of prophecies about the birth of the Savior.  Is Jesus just over 2000 years old?  What can we learn about the proper celebration of the Savior’s birth from those that were there at the time?  Many at the time thought the Messiah would come as a warrior King to straighten everybody out, but we should all be thankful that God’s perfect plan was more about Saving Grace than swift retribution.  How much higher are God’s plans than ours?  Praise Him. May you and your family have a blessed Christmas.

The Way To Repay

#Reparations for #privilege, how long have people struggled with this idea?  Here we see King David attempting to repay God for His blessings.  Can we pay back God?  What can we take from God that makes Him happy?  What part does prayer play in showing our gratitude?  How about vows you have made to God, are you honoring them?  Do you even remember what you said you would do if only God got you through that last scrape?  Have you sacrificed anything for the Lord?  What does that even mean in today’s terms?  All of these activities show thankfulness, but what good are they if nothing changes?

The Devil Didn’t Make You Do It

When you see #evil in the world, such as we have seen with #terrorists shooting and blowing up people for no good reason, do you think the #Devil made them do it? In your own life, have you ever looked back on your actions and blamed the devil for what you did? What part does temptation play?  Is temptation inevitable?  How about irresistible?  What is covered by the the Lust of the Flesh, Lust of the Eyes, and the Pride of Life?  How can something given to us for our good be used to do wrong?  When do our wants and desires turn into sin?  What is wrong with seeking love and acceptance from others?  What does that leave for a Christ follower to do, have, and be?

A Miracle With A Message

Imagine throwing a #wedding feast and running out of supplies for the guests, or what if that had happened during your #Thanksgiving dinner or at your upcoming #Christmas party.  Jesus Christ saved the day with a miracle, but what else can we glean from this story?  Who saw the wasted potential of the empty water pots?  What happens to empty people that don’t fill up on the Lord?  How fortunate were these people to have invited Jesus to their wedding?  Can you see Him crashing a party?  No, that is somebody else’s modus operandi.  What was different about the wine Jesus made from the wine served earlier in the feast?  Why is that important for our everyday lives?

Looking For Leaders

Whether you and your organization are trying to decide amongst #Trump, #Carson, #Cruz, #Clinton and #Sanders or you’re looking for a local leader for your #business, #school, or #church, what should you look for in a leader?  What is the first step and what does it have to do with a mirror?  What does leadership have to do with lordship?  What limits how far a leader can go or how much a teacher can teach?  Would you agree that loyalty is important to leadership?  And if so, to whom?  How about hard work?  Is that important in a leader?  I once had a boss that worked so hard that everyone under him tried extra hard to get things done before he noticed them.  Much thanks to a great Christian boss, Ben Creasman.

Speaking of thanks, thanks be to God from whom all blessings flow.  May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The Great God We Worship

Bible Audio Blog
19830710pm The Great God We Worship - Rev. Tommy Jones

With the rumblings of #ISIS and mentions of #WWIII flying around the #media, we need to remind ourselves who is in charge.  Has God lost control of this world?  What does the Bible say about other religions that try to claim their god is greater than the one true God?  Is God surprised by what is going on today?  The other day I was struck by the fact that when we focus the Hubble Space Telescope at a seemingly empty spot in the night sky, it finds billions of galaxies with billions of stars in each galaxy.  And God not only knows how many are out there, but the name of each star.  Do you think He cares less about the finite number of humans on this planet?  Okay, God knows everything, but is He powerful enough to do something about it?  How much restraint must an all knowing, all powerful God possess to not force everyone to act in everyone else’s best interest?
