Easter – The Power Of The Resurrection

Why do we celebrate #Easter?  Is it just to mark the beginning of #Spring or to get #chocolate?  Some do, but the original and best reason is to celebrate when God raised His only Son from the dead to defeat the curse of sin.  Does God have resurrection power?  Is there any proof outside of the Bible to corroborate that Jesus Christ rose alive from the tomb?  Can you personally know the power of the resurrection?  What kind of power can you expect?  If you are not a Christian, how should you dress for Easter?

Liberty In Law – Law of Legacy – Preservation of Priority

Far from being #outdated, the #10commandments are the underpinnings of current #society.  Eight of the ten commandments contain a negative statement about what not to do.  But, each one actually carries both a positive and a negative.  What is involved in having no other god before the one true God?  Have most atheists come to a well studied intellectual conclusion that there is no God or is there another reason why people embrace that mindset?  Is it only alternative religions that we are being warned about in this first commandment?   What, if any, is the difference between Lord and God?  How highly revered was the name Jehovah by the Jewish people and priests?  What can we learn from what God says about Himself?  What does the name Emmanuel tell us about His plan to save us from the law?  How did the plagues destroy the false gods of Egypt?  Are there parallels between us and the wandering Israelites?  Who or what do we worship before God today?  Are we serving self or God?

Liberty In Law – Law of Logic

We rejoice in the #law of the #Lord.  Why should we rejoice in #limitations or #restrictions?  What does the world look like without #standards?  Is there anything more frustrating than seeing certain people not being held accountable to the same rules as everybody else?  Where is the logic of secular humanists and atheists trying to dismiss the ten commandments?  Who does the Bible say gave us the ten commandments;  Moses, an angel, or God Himself?  How pervasive through every culture are these laws and what does the Bible say about that?  How is the law holy, just, and good?  The Old Testament contains several kinds of law – moral, judicial, and ceremonial.  Some people say Jesus Christ did away with all of that, but did He?  Can we keep the law in its entirety?  Breaking the law leads to death before a perfect God.  Who can solve this problem?  How does salvation change our view of the law?

Liberty In Law – Law of License

Today, we start a new series of messages from Brother Tommy about the #law.  Some people believe that laws stand in the way of their #freedom and with man’s laws, they have some valid points.  But, God’s laws are perfect and designed for our good.  What are the two purposes of God’s law?  What is the mystery of iniquity or lawlessness?  What does the Bible say about the trajectory of lawlessness as we wait on the Lord’s return?  What mystery is revealed by joining the family of God?  How is evil allowed to exist?  Does the law bind us or does sin?  From where does all this current deception and destruction come?  Is there hope to overcome the lawlessness?  Who can make us light and salt in a dark and decaying world?  What will happen when the Restrainer is removed?

Christ Is The Answer – Famous Last Words

One thing I always look for in an autobiography are the last words someone uttered.  Here Brother Tommy goes over the last words Paul had for the Corinthians in this first letter.  Who should we keep in mind when making #plans?  How do we keep an eye out for #spiritual #opportunities and #obstacles?  Why was it important for Paul to follow God’s path and timing?  Is it important for believers today?  Can we learn anything about relationships by the way Paul writes about his circle of friends?  What were Paul’s words for those that reject the Lord, Jesus Christ?  But, he ends his letter on a much more uplifting tone.

Christ Is The Answer – Sharing Through Stewardship

In this chapter of First Corinthians, Paul goes from the #spiritual to the #practical.  Why would he bookend these two subjects so closely?  Where should our heart be?  And how about our feet?  Here we see guidance for the church in how to collect money and examples of how it should be used.  Is there any guidance given to believers about how and when to give?  By the way, this chapter includes one of the first clues about what day of the week on which the early church worshipped.  Do attitude and intention matter when giving?  Are there different expectations of giving from different levels of givers?  Are commandments given to us for God’s good or ours?  Did you know that there is a difference between tithes and offerings?

Christ Is The Answer – The Challenge of The Resurrection

If you have repented of your sins and asked #Jesus to be your #Lord and #Savior, what can you expect in the #afterlife.  What happens to the body when we die?  Will there be some that won’t die?  What is the difference between translation and transformation?  What does it mean to be absent from the body but present with the Lord?  What is meant  by the last trump or trumpet?  Christianity has stages – justification, sanctification, and finally resurrection.  This gives Christ followers victory over what?  Who deserves the credit for all of this good news?  How then should we proceed to live?  What is the difference between working for the Lord and doing the work of the Lord?

What will our #resurrection bodies be like?  Will they be similar to the ones we have now or will they be vastly different?  Will our resurrection bodies be recognizable for who we are?  What is meant by the term spiritual body?  And what can we extrapolate from Jesus Christ’s resurrected form?   Paul gives us a glimpse into these answers in First Corinthians.  How can we be assured to get a resurrected spiritual body?
