What are we here for?  Many today find life #meaningless, #purposeless, or even downright #depressing.  #Christ is the answer.  In the body of Christ, the church, we can find acceptance and belonging.  But what happens when believers don’t take their proper place?  Paul told the Corinthians how to rectify this situation.  What part does humility play?  Less of me means more of Jesus.  What is a steward?  Management can be a draining job when there is a difficult boss or a rogue manager, but when there is a good boss or owner and the managers are aligned, the task becomes fulfilling even enjoyable.  Judgment is reserved for whom?  Paul put little weight in the judgment of others of him and none in his own judgment of himself.  Whose judgment really matters?  Will every Christian receive praise in the end?

The Joy of Jesus – Triumphant Serving – As Exhorted – Regarding Love

20050731 Triumphant Serving - As Exhorted - Regarding Love - Rev. Tommy Jones

#Love #unites, #hate divides.  Just look at the #news and #political discourse right now for proof.  You are #loved.  How can I say that without having met you?  Because the #Bible tells us so.  We are all given the ability to love others as well.  But left to our own desires we tend to love others that look like us, act like us, believe what we believe, or who can do something for us.  God has a different idea about how we should love, not selfishly but putting others first.  By serving others with love, we create unity in the church.  By serving the community with love, we bring others into the fellowship of Believers.  What encouraging factors does Paul give us to motivate this love that unites?  What is the right kind of love and how do we practice that?  What does humility have to do with loving others?  What is humility and what is it not?  Near the end Brother Tommy mentions the order that our priorities should take.  Take the first letter of each priority and it spells what you get when you do it right (J-O-Y).

Bear with One Another

19831106am Bear With One Another - Rev. Tommy Jones

If you are like me you enjoy interacting with #people, but on an individual basis it sometimes is more difficult.  This message is the first of two #bear messages, delivered incidentally by a man whose nickname was Bear.  Remember these ‘one another’ lessons were directed at Christ followers to tell us how to deal with other Christians.  What does it mean to bear with others?  Do we overlook every flaw or wrong action?  How should we approach others?  What exactly is meekness?  What does patience have to do with this concept of bearing with one another?  Where is a good place to practice this skill?  Is love a feeling or an action?  Who is our example of forgiveness?  Is bearing with one another natural or do we have to work at it?

THE LIVING GOD #SAT

#Riding on  any #animal which has not been trained is  just #looking for a #tumble!  Being raised in Texas where rodeos made bareback riding an art and encouraged the young that they could do it.  I remember my father telling our neighbors that “his” five yr. old daughter could stay on the young calf  we had in the back lot a longer time than anyone.  So he had his own kid’s rodeo that day with each ride timed to see which one lasted the longest before being bucked off.  (Yes, his only child held on)  I learned at a very young age, that riding on a beautiful horse in an arena or parade is very majestic not like my calf.   When I read in Mark 11 about Jesus riding on a young colt into the streets of Jerusalem, I was and am still enthralled by His humility and majesty.  “as Jesus had commanded (his two disciples) brought the colt to Jesus and put their garments on him; and JESUS SAT upon the colt..many people spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees and and strayed them in the road..they went before and followed, cried, saying Hosanna; Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord!”  Yet, we know Jesus took the greatest tumble/fall/death in just a few days after this triumphal entry not because of his shortcoming, but FOR the sin of man.  Just think.  “Psalm 68:4 ..Extol GOD that RIDES UPON THE HEAVENS by His name JAH and rejoice before Him.  33. LORD RIDES UPON THE HEAVENS which were of old; He sends out His voice and that a mighty voice ascribe the strength unto GOD”  (YES, GOD’S ONLY SON WON THE VICTORY IN THE FINAL RACE OF DEATH)
