The LIVING GOD #LIBERTY

While my children were growing up, many a day, they heard me say, “There is #liberty in #law!”  Their quick reply, “I know Mom.” (they didn’t want to hear another explanation such as the beloved pets have safety perimeters and so do you)   God has given us the freedom to choose His laws or run amuck.  Take a look around today!  James 1:25 “One who looks intently at the perfect law, the LAW OF LIBERTY, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does.”  Do we test our boundaries from time to time and slip/slide through days of wandering through the fog of distress?  God has made a way of LIBERATION, if we choose..”Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD.  HE WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON him; …GOD will abundantly PARDON” Isaiah 55:7  GOD brings good news to the afflicted and brokenhearted and PROCLAIMS  LIBERTY to captives and freedom to prisoners..Is 61:1  “Now the LORD is the SPIRIT; where the SPIRIT of the LORD IS, THERE IS LIBERTY.”  2 Cor.3:17

The LIVING GOD #SPEAKS

#”Words, Words, Words, I’m so sick of Words” is a line from the musical My Fair Lady and is relevant for today as we are bombarded with loud -pompous- egotistical- opinionated voices from all media.  Where can we turn?  John 8:43 “JESUS SAID, Why do YOU not understand MY SPEECH?  46.  I SAY the TRUTH so why do you not believe ME?  47. He that is of GOD  HEARS  GOD’S  WORDS”  We choose what shows, channels, stations we like and want to hear.  I enjoy a good story with a twist or hidden meaning.   Jesus was the storyteller Matthew 13:34,35 “JESUS SPOKE TO MULTITUDES  in parables.…‘I will open MY MOUTH in parables:  I will UTTER things hidden since the foundation of the world”  Enjoy reading those parables which GOD SPOKE and listen to His Still Small Voice.  “A Word properly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver” Prov.25:11

The LIVING GOD #COMMANDS

#Time flies.  I have friends who are now in their 90’s and I have seen their adult walk with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  What an example of faith, commitment, and loyalty they have been and still are during sickness, health, wealth, losses, heartaches, and happiness with Jesus as their COMMANDER.  With the start of each new year, we make a list of resolutions that we think will improve our lives; however, how long has it been since we looked at GOD’S list of COMMANDMENTS?  His Word is timeless!   Ex. 20 “YOU shall have no other gods before me.  YOU shall not make for yourself an idol or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on earth …YOU shall not worship them or serve them for I the LORD your GOD am a jealous God, visiting iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate ME, but showing lovingkindness to thousands who love ME and keep MY COMMANDMENTS.  YOU shall not take the name of the LORD your GOD in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.  YOU remember the sabbath day to keep it holy…. You honor your father and mother that your days may be prolonged in the land the LORD your GOD gives you.  YOU shall not murder.  YOU shall not commit adultery.  YOU shall not steal.  YOU shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.  YOU shall not covet …anything that belongs to your neighbor.   JESUS GAVE US NEW COMMANDMENTS:  Matt. 5  ” Love YOUR enemies and pray for those who persecute YOU….(When YOU pray in secret YOUR Father who sees in secret will repay YOU)   John 14:15 “If YOU love Me, you will keep My COMMANDMENTS.”  John 15:10 “If YOU keep My COMMANDMENTS, YOU WILL ABIDE IN MY LOVE, just as I have kept My Father’s COMMANDMENTS, and abide in His love.  12. This is My  COMMANDMENT, that YOU love one another, just as I have loved YOU.  14. YOU are MY friends, if you do what I COMMAND  YOU .”     GIVE  GOD  YOUR  TIME….

The LIVING GOD #PEACE

Can you remember the last time you felt peaceful?  This year my granddaughter Rebecca got a new dog which she brought to the farm and as we were all visiting, her “Winnie” laid on my feet which took all the stress out of my body making me very calm. It is amazing how touching animals can remove stressors for the moment.  Jesus said in John 14:27 something we can all hold dear, “PEACE, I LEAVE WITH YOU, MY PEACE I GIVE UNTO YOU,  not as the world gives…let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.”   Then on Christmas Eve, my daughter Jerilyn, son-in-law Michael, granddaughter Victoria and I were attending a candlelight/Lord’s Supper service with chamber music playing as we sang carols holding candles which engulfed the sanctuary with individual lights.  I felt GOD’S PEACE at that moment.”PEACE of GOD, which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:7  During these stressful days and uncertain times, may we turn to His EVERLASTING Word as we start a new year…Col.3:15  “Let the PEACE OF GOD RULE IN YOUR HEART…..and be thankful.”

The LIVING GOD #GLORY

#GLORY, #splendor, and #honor are attributes which are rare.  I am in awe when I see a magnificent sunset or the evening sky filled with twinkling stars so I can only imagine the splendor and glory all around Jesus Christ on the night of His earthly birth.  Luke 2 records how shaken the shepherds in the fields watching their sheep were when the  “angel of the Lord stood before them and the GLORY OF THE LORD SHONE AROUND THEM..the angel said, ‘Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy for all people; today in the city of David there has been born for YOU a SAVIOR, who is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’  Suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘GLORY TO GOD in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”  We see big productions on large screens or at Disney World or in church programs, but from what source does REAL GLORY come?    Jesus lifting His eyes to heaven said in John 17, “I GLORIFIED THEE (FATHER)  on earth having accomplished the work which Thou gave Me to do and now,  GLORIFY  ME  together with THYSELF, FATHER,  with the GLORY which I had with Thee before the world was.  .  . Father, I desire that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold MY GLORY, which THOU GAVE ME; for Thou loved Me before the foundation of the world.”  May We Behold HIS GLORY….

The LIVING GOD #JOY

One outstanding memory from my young childhood happened in my aunt’s home with my family on Dec. 12th many moons ago.  I had two cousins : Jerry was 5 and Sonja was 3 and  I was 4.   We were told to play outside while my new cousin was born.  Jerry wanted a boy and I wanted a girl and I’m not sure Sonja knew what was going on.  Shortly we were told the baby was born .  (actually we heard the baby cry from outside the window)  My mother told us,  “she, is a beautiful girl named Joy”  We were jumping for Joy!  I immediately associated new life with joy, even at that young age.  The Bible continues to enlighten the meaning of JOY through Jesus’s own words in John 15:11 as He said, “These things I have spoken to you, that MY JOY may be in you, and that your joy may be made full”  and in John 17:13 “But now I come to Thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have MY JOY made full in themselves”   Look for real joy…not artificial..but the real thing… Living Life with our Savior Jesus Christ.   “Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and JOY ARE IN HIS PLACE.” 1Chr. 16:27   Even the angels proclaim in Luke 2:10 of a new born baby bringing new life and joy to the world,  “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a GREAT JOY WHICH SHALL BE FOR ALL THE PEOPLE”

The LIVING GOD #TRUTH

“The #TRUTH OF THE #LORD ENDURES FOREVER” Ps. 117:2  That comes straight from the word of GOD.  When God’s Word is ignored, then man proclaims lies are truth and truth is a lie.  Just observe our society today twisting the meaning of words. “God gave them up to uncleanness through lusts of their own hearts to dishonor their bodies..who changed the TRUTH OF GOD into a lie, and worshipped and served self more than the Creator.” Rom.1:24   Satan is a deceiver!  So how can we know real truth?  “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and TRUTH CAME BY  JESUS CHRIST” John 1:17  “JESUS said, I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, no one comes to the Father, but through ME.” John 14:6  “You shall know the TRUTH and the  TRUTH shall make you free.” John 8:32   .. …”when the Spirit of TRUTH is come, he will guide you into all TRUTH…”John 16:13

The LIVING GOD #THANKS

How long has it been since you have heard “Thank you” in #public?  Do you text thank you audibly?  Communication seems to be silent in our hurry up generation.  Many can place very personal comments on line, yet cannot say thank you aloud in front of others.  #Jesus gave us the perfect example of audible THANKS before five thousand hungry people.  JESUS took the lad’s five barley loaves and two small fishes, and when HE GAVE THANKS  his disciples distributed food to all. (as recorded in John 6)  I have read and heard this miracle since childhood, but it was always about feeding thousands from food in child’s basket.  Today, I am looking from a new perspective of thankfulness.  Our JESUS is humbling himself before others to first THANK HIS HEAVENLY FATHER for FOOD.   This Thanksgiving I want to THANK THE LORD FOR HIS GOODNESS AND MERCY and read Psalm 136 before we  participate in a wonderful family meal.  GIVE THANKS   How long has it been since our heavenly Father has heard “thank you” from YOU?
