#Pride is everywhere today, celebrated by the World.  But what does the #Bible say about pride?  Pride was the original sin.  Have we learned our lesson yet?  How can we puncture pride by looking at ourselves in the mirror of the Word?  How self confident should we be of gifts we have received from God?  What is it about pride that makes us slow down before the race is over?  We love to compare ourselves to others, but rarely do we compare ourselves to the apostles.  Listen for a special note on political correctness.  What are we willing to put aside for the Kingdom of God?  One more test of pride is how do you retaliate when wronged?

#Want and #need, do you know the difference?  If you put the wrong emphasis on verses like this you wind up with what is called a #prosperityGospel.  Like we talked about last week, the motive matters.  We don’t give to receive, we give to honor God and as a result we receive all our needs.  Have you ever prayed to God for a thing you thought you needed only to realize later that it was really a want?  Are all of our needs good things?  Do we sometimes need correction?  What does it mean when the Bible says ‘according to His riches in glory?’  Well, I haven’t met or heard of a rich man yet who can afford to create a planet full of biodiversity much less a universe.  Oh and don’t forget the qualifier at the end that Paul loves to use – in Christ.

Admonish One Another

Last week, we learned that we are to #encourage one another.  But, what happens when we see a fellow believer exhibiting behavior that is not to be encouraged?  That is when we are called on to #admonish or correct one another.  What about the command not to judge one another, is this a contradiction?  What should be true about us before we admonish another believer?  What should correction be based upon?  What did Paul show us about proper admonishment?  What is the difference between preventive and corrective admonishment?
