Back before we had all these #phones and digital #calendars, people would tie a string around their finger as a #reminder.  But, what good is a reminder if we don’t know what it is supposed to bring to remembrance?  Back in the Old Testament God dwelt in the temple.  Where does the New Testament say that God dwells now?  What makes this temple holy?  What does it mean when we are told not to spoil, mar, or corrupt this temple?  How can we become wise?  How can we tap into a spiritual fortune?  Let this scripture remind us whose we are and what we possess as Christians.

#Pride is celebrated today.  The #Bible says that pride goes before a fall.  #Jesus Christ came not as a rich educated ruler, but as a humble, poor migrant.  And yet, what the World finds shameful, the believer finds glorious.  Do the worldly wise look for the messiah?  What need do the rich or ruling class have for the savior?  It is not impossible, but Paul says that not many of them will be saved.  Did God have a reason to use a simple method of salvation to save the Chosen?  To whom does the glory belong?

#Want and #need, do you know the difference?  If you put the wrong emphasis on verses like this you wind up with what is called a #prosperityGospel.  Like we talked about last week, the motive matters.  We don’t give to receive, we give to honor God and as a result we receive all our needs.  Have you ever prayed to God for a thing you thought you needed only to realize later that it was really a want?  Are all of our needs good things?  Do we sometimes need correction?  What does it mean when the Bible says ‘according to His riches in glory?’  Well, I haven’t met or heard of a rich man yet who can afford to create a planet full of biodiversity much less a universe.  Oh and don’t forget the qualifier at the end that Paul loves to use – in Christ.
