Basic Biblical Beliefs – Salvation – Two Sides

We know from last week that #Jesus Christ is the only way to reconcile our #relationship with #God.  Let’s look at Salvation from God’s point of view.  Who came up with the plan?  Who suffered more by following the plan?  Who did all the fighting and the winning?  How important is our response?  What does it mean to repent and believe?  How are they linked?

Basic Biblical Beliefs – Salvation – One Way

Everyone is looking for #salvation even if they don’t know what it looks like.  It is a big theme in our entertainment, athletics, business, and many other areas.  But, they are merely mirroring the most important question in life:  salvation of our soul.  Is it true that all religions lead to God?  Judge it against the Word of God.  What is the straight and narrow path?  Is it exclusionary when it is open to all?  Is it inconsistent when it answers all of God’s extremely high requirements?  Does it still include all of God’s qualities?  God sent His Son, Jesus, not to condemn us but to save us.

Mosaics Of The Master – Christ The Sunshine of Life – Demonstrated By A Sign – Blind Man Healed

Does #darkness have any properties?  No, it is just the absence of #light.  #Jesus Christ said, ‘I am the light.’  What should we take away from the fact that Jesus stopped to #heal this man from a birth defect?  What Old Testament prophecy about the messiah did this fulfill?  Are disabilities or even setbacks due to sin?  How can an illness glorify God?  Did Jesus wait for an audience to do this miracle?  Did Christ need the materials He used to heal the man?  As unbelievers, did we not experience this same miracle?

Note from a sermon I heard today:  Painful situations for Christians are like stained glass, up close they look jagged and random but when we get some distance, we can see a beautiful picture.

Back to Bethel

Bible Audio Blog

Jacob met #God and had a life changing experience, but did that #change him forever?  What should we do when we stray from #God?  What should a #nation do when its people forget where they came from?   Is God mad at us when we backslide?  Bethel, or house of God, is where Jacob first met God.  Where is your Bethel?  What are some examples that show that our Savior is a God of second chances?  Jacob and his family had strayed with idols.  But we don’t have any idols today, do we?  One of my pastors says that an idol is a good thing that becomes a god thing.  What outward change did God tell Jacob to make?  What benefit did Jacob receive from following the Lord’s instruction?  When Jacob returned to Bethel, was he returning to a place or to God?  We see Jacob dedicating himself to God, but what about God’s dedication to his servant?  Well, He did rename him.

The Winning Witness’ Type

19800914 Winning Witnesses - The Witness' Type - Rev. Tommy Jones

Let’s begin an eight week series of lessons on being a #winning #witness.  No one can be a witness to what they have not experienced themselves.  So, of necessity these messages are directed to believers about how to share the Gospel with their non-believing friends.  Who is our best example or type of a perfect witness?  Of course, Jesus was chosen by God, but are we?  How do we know that witnessing is not just the responsibility of preachers and missionaries?  Did Jesus depend only on Himself to be a winning witness or did He get help from the Father?  What part does judgement play in this process?  Is there also Grace involved?  Was Christ witnessing in a free and open environment?  What can we learn about His approach to the lost?  Did Jesus win over everybody?  And yet the Bible declares Him victorious.

How To Please God

19860921 How To Please God - Rev. Tommy Jones

#DIY or do it yourself is very popular on #Youtube.  Most of the titles start with ‘How To.’  Well, we have three of them before we hear the Christmas message later this month.  Is it possible to please God?  What does the Bible say?  Is there more than one way?  Is there an essential element required first, kind of like making sure you have the right tool before you start?  What is Faith?  I have heard people say they won’t put their Faith in anyone or anything.  But, how could they get through a day?  What are some roadblocks to greater Faith?  What is important about God wanting us to have Faith in Him?  How did Jesus show us this was the case?  What is wrong with a lack of Faith?  What are the rewards of Faith in God?  How would you like five steps to getting a stronger Faith?
