Pray One for Another

Bible Audio Blog
19831120pm Pray One For Another - Rev. Tommy Jones

What effect does #prayer have on the people around us?  I see so many people scoff at others that say, “I will pray for you.’  But the Bible says that the prayers of the righteous accomplish much.  Did Jesus, the Son of God, pray and did He tell us to do the same?  Did Jesus also show us how?  For whom did Christ show us that we should pray?  How should we pray for them?  What did Paul, the missionary, teach us about prayer?

Be Kind One to Another

Bible Audio Blog
19831113pm Be Kind To One Another - Rev. Tommy Jones

Whoops, this one got stuck in the cloud.  Shoutout to the #Kid on this message.  Who could be against #kindness?  Most people like to think that they are kind.  Are there different types of kindness?  Are there limits to our natural kind tendencies?  What level of kindness are Christians supposed to show others?  On what should it be based?  What role does the Holy Spirit play?  What does it have to do with patience, compassion, service, and the undeserving?  What does kindness not involve? Have you ever heard of the three pronged test about what you should say?  Is there such a thing as counterfeit kindness?  What is the goal of Christian kindness?

Are You a Christian Mother?

Bible Audio Blog
19820509 Are You A Christian Mother? - Rev. Tommy Jones

We are going to take a break this week from the One Another series (just one left) to recognize that Sunday is #Mother’sDay.  You’re welcome for the reminder.  Do you agree with the statement, ‘as the home goes, so goes Society”?  Who is at the center of the home?  What are some of the ways modern culture tries to cut away at the Biblical role of mothers?  What can men do to support the women in their life to be a Christian mother?  What does a Christian mother have to do with leading in worship, teaching the Word, and being an example of Grace?  How does the challenge of motherhood make it easier to undermine that role?  Who should support mothers?  What contribution can be made by mothers to the Kingdom of God?

Show Hospitality One to Another

Bible Audio Blog
19831113am Show Hospitality To One Another - Rev. Tommy Jones

#Christians should be the most hospitable people we ever encounter.  What does Biblical hospitality look like?  What could be more inviting than meeting in someone’s home?  When did that change and what did it do to Christianity?  Who should be hospitable and to whom are they to show it?  What makes us suspicious of strangers?  What does the Bible say we have in common with them?  Are there any perils to be aware of when showing hospitality?  What is the reward for being kind to strangers?

Bear One Another’s Burdens

Bible Audio Blog
19831106pm Bear One Another's Burdens - Rev. Tommy Jones

This week’s message goes a step further than last week’s lesson on #bear with one another.  Bother Tommy says this is the most delicate of the ‘one another’ commands.  This one deals with how a #Christian should handle another Christian who slips into sin.  Should we judge or condemn the other who failed?  What should we ensure before attempting to assist?  Does the Bible say we should try this alone?  What does it mean to restore a fellow Christian?  What could go wrong during this process?

Bear with One Another

Bible Audio Blog

If you are like me you enjoy interacting with #people, but on an individual basis it sometimes is more difficult.  This message is the first of two #bear messages, delivered incidentally by a man whose nickname was Bear.  Remember these ‘one another’ lessons were directed at Christ followers to tell us how to deal with other Christians.  What does it mean to bear with others?  Do we overlook every flaw or wrong action?  How should we approach others?  What exactly is meekness?  What does patience have to do with this concept of bearing with one another?  Where is a good place to practice this skill?  Is love a feeling or an action?  Who is our example of forgiveness?  Is bearing with one another natural or do we have to work at it?

Serve One Another

Bible Audio Blog
19831030pm Serve One Another - Rev. Tommy Jones

What is wrong with looking out for #1?  Where does serving #self first get us?  What does serving others have to do with #freedom in #Christ?  Does freedom in Christ mean freedom to sin?  What does freedom have to do with servitude?  What should this service look like and what should it not look like?  Listen to the list of things that happen when people live selfishly and ask yourself if you don’t see more of that every year?  Now, listen to the list of the Fruit of the Spirit and ask yourself if you have them?  These grow by following Jesus and serving others in love.

Comfort One Another

Bible Audio Blog
19831030am Comfort One Another - Rev. Tommy Jones

As we look forward to the good news of #Easter, let’s look at how to #comfort one another.  Can everybody give comfort? Has anybody told you, ‘everything will be alright’, ‘time makes it all better,’ or ‘cheer up, it could be worse’?  What comfort did Jesus give us in the New Testament?  How did a shepherd use his rod and staff?  Have you even acknowledged the true source of your discomfort?  Does the Bible give us examples of ways not to comfort?  Ever heard of Karma?  Like the great instruction manual it is, the Bible also tells us the proper way to comfort.  And don’t forget the Great Comforter, the Holy Spirit.
